Bills Trade Proposal Lands Trey Hendrickson in Blockbuster Move

On Sunday night, the Buffalo Bills went into Chicago to face the Bears in their second preseason game. Buffalo lost 38-0, but hardly any of the Bills’ starters played in the game.

It’s never good to see a team not get into the end zone, but there’s nothing to worry about until the starters can’t reach the goal line. The Bills should be one of the best teams in the NFL again this season. A lot of it has to do with quarterback Josh Allen, but also the addition of Joey Bosa on the defensive line.

Buffalo Added Joey Bosa This Offseason

Buffalo added Bosa after the Los Angeles Chargers cut him in March. While the former first-round pick hasn’t had a double-digit sack season since 2021, there is still talent left in him if he stays healthy.

The Bills knew heading into the offseason that they needed more pass rushers, and they could still add one before their first game.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has reported that the Cincinnati Bengals have been actively in trade talks involving their pass rusher, Trey Hendrickson.

Hendrickson has been holding out through training camp, wanting a new deal. Russini reported that the Bengals are looking for draft capital and young defensive players in return.

“Cincinnati seeks draft capital and is also targeting defensive players in a potential deal for Hendrickson, according to teams that have inquired about Hendrickson. Teams that have recently inquired about the pass rusher were told Cincinnati’s asking price included a young defensive player and a 2026 first-round pick, according to league sources,” Russini wrote.”

Bills Could Add Trey Hendrickson

The Bills could be in the market for Hendrickson and Jarrett Bailey from The Sporting News has a trade proposal that lands the 2024 NFL sack leader in Buffalo.

“It will take a lot for the Bengals to pull the trigger on a trade, though, especially if it means sending him to an AFC powerhouse. This is what I would propose to the Bengals if I were Brandon Beane,” Bailey wrote.

“Bengals receive:

  • 2026 second-round pick
  • EDGE A.J. Epenesa
  • WR Curtis Samuel

Bills receive:

  • EDGE Trey Hendrickson
  • 2027 fifth-round pick

A second-round pick may seem steep for an edge rusher north of 30 years old, but the Bills are a team that, frankly, doesn’t draft well at the top of the draft (see the last five drafts). Considering that many teams will be calling, they will have to do all they can to get the highest bid.”

A trade like the one Bailey proposed could be the reason why the Bills win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. It might feel steep to trade away a second-round pick and two players for Hendrickson. But Buffalo is on the 99-yard line of getting to the Super Bowl, and Hendrickson could put them over the top.

The Bengals are unlikely to make a trade with the Bills since they are both conference rivals. However, Buffalo should call Cincinnati and find out the asking price.
