Browns Coach Gives Isaiah Bond Great News Ahead of Week 4

The Cleveland Browns are expected to feature Isaiah Bond more ahead of Week 4.

Bond signed as an undrafted free agent with Cleveland after he was cleared of the sexual assault charges against him. Through three games, Bond hasn’t made a huge impact, but his snap count has risen.

Ahead of Week 4, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski gave Bond good news as he’s expected to get more reps and snaps.

“Yeah, I think he’s had increased role in terms of reps in each of these games and I think that will continue,” Stefanski said. “Again, young player like you mentioned and then it takes some time. It takes some time to rhythm up with the quarterback, to rhythm up with the offense. To his credit, this is a very, very intelligent young man, so we can really use him in a variety of ways and locations, if you will. But those young players, over the course of a season, you do often times see that role expand.”

Bond is behind Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman on the receiver pecking order, but perhaps the rookie can start to get more snaps and receptions.

Through three games, Bond has recorded 4 receptions for 27 yards, but has been targeted 8 times.

Stefanski Praised Bond’s Work Ethic

Bond signed with Cleveland back in the middle of August, and he had to quickly learn the offense.

The rookie receiver did extra work in training camp to get ready, and Stefanski was impressed by his work ethic.

“He’s done a really nice job,” Stefanski said about Bond. “He’s very, very smart. So that’s very helpful when it comes to creating roles for players. We’ll see what he can handle, but he’s mentally and physically done a really nice job.”

Jeudy, meanwhile, said he expects Bond to be an important part of the offense this season and for years to come.

“He feels like a very smart talented player that’s going to have a big role in this offense and I’m excited for him,” Jeudy said.

Bond played college football at Alabama and Texas and is a speedy deep ball threat.

Joe Flacco Knows The Browns Offense has to be Better

Cleveland upset the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, winning 13-10.

However, the offense has struggled, and quarterback Joe Flacco knows he and the offense have to be better.

“It’s hard. It’s hard to go out there and play in games like today,” Flacco said. “But that’s what football is sometimes. With the type of defense we have, it’s about going out there and capitalizing on turnovers and not making mistakes. It wasn’t pretty today. It was tough and there were times down the field where guys were open but I just didn’t make it happen.”

Flacco threw for 142 yards with an interception, so the veteran will need to get better if Cleveland is going to win more games this season.

But, despite his and the Browns’ offensive struggles, Stefanski will remain with Flacco as the starting quarterback.

The Browns are on the road to play the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
