Deshaun Watson’s final tie to his days with the Houston Texans is now gone.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback sold his Houston home last week, fetching more than $1.3 million for the five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 5,264-square-foot mansion, according to Realtor.com.
The No. 12 overall pick of the Texans of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Clemson and spent his first five seasons with the Texans, completing 67.8 percent of his passes and helping them reach the playoffs in 2018 and 2019.
Why Did Deshaun Watson Sell His House In Houston?
Watson purchased the house in March 2018 for about $1.5 million after he signed his four-year, $13.854 million rookie contract.
But even though Watson enjoyed good times in Houston, and also presumably at his house that features views of two holes at Royal Oaks Country Club in Houston, he fell out of favor with the Texans after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced in 2021.
Watson did not play for the Texans at all amid the allegations during the 2021 season. But he did leverage his way to the Browns and fetched the now super-controversial fully guaranteed contract from the Browns in 2022.
But, according to Redfin, Watson listed the house for sale in February for $1.8 million. Yet, according to the site, he took between $1.3-$1.51 million for the house, and the sale closed Aug. 21.
Redfin’s home listed also listed the amenities, which includes:
- Stunning golf course home in prestigious Royal Oaks Country Club with breathtaking views
- A light-filled, expansive floor plan that is perfect for entertaining, featuring two to three bedrooms down and three up, including dual primary suites ideal for multi-generational living.
- The chefâs kitchen, which has abundant storage with sweeping views of the backyard and golf course.
- A resort-style pool, hot tub, covered loggia with outdoor kitchen and a spacious covered balcony with panoramic views.
- Wet bar area, which also includes a gated wine grotto and beverage refrigerator.
- Luxurious downstairs primary suite with a two-story bath, two large walk-in closets and a vanity station.
- Media room including a projector and screen, plus a Control4 smart home system.
- Three-car garage plus golf cart garage, with only one adjacent neighbor
- Home was being offered fully furnished
What Is Deshaun Watson’s Status For 2025?
Watson has been something of an afterthought, despite the fact this is the penultimate season of his five-year contract with the Browns, since he re-tore his Achilles tendon in the off-season.
But even though the Browns finalized their quarterbacks for 2025, with Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders serving as Nos. 1, 2 and 3 on the depth chart, Watson could throw a wrench into those plans by working hard to get back from the injury.
Watson will start the year on the physically unable to perform list for the Browns, meaning he will at least miss the first four games this year. But even Browns coach Kevin Stefanski acknowledged his impressive progress.
“Deshaunâs doing awesome, heâs doing great,” Stefanski said Tuesday. “Iâm excited for him. I get to watch him work out as well. I get to be in the meeting room with him every single day. So, heâs doing great.”
