Reece James has told Chelsea fans that he is ‘more hungry than ever’ following rumours that the club’s board are looking to sell him this summer.

It was recently reported that Chelsea are planning to offload their captain James in an effort to balance their books and comply with financial rules.

James, who has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, has massively struggled with injuries this season and has played just nine games in 2023-24.

The Englishman provided a fresh injury update on Wednesday as he posted on Instagram: ‘I’ve been gone a while but I am doing well. Really well.

‘The journey has been long and tough but nothing I couldn’t handle. I’m in a good place.

‘The comeback is on, more hungry than ever. Stay well in the meantime and see [you] soon.’

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has fired a warning to James over the glowing form of his teammate and fellow right-back Malo Gusto.

Gusto has impressed since taking James’ spot in the Chelsea XI and the Frenchman has established himself as a fan favourite.

‘[Malo Gusto] keeps getting better and better for Chelsea,’ Redknapp said last month.

‘You forget this lad’s age as well. He looks a really good prospect.

‘The best compliment I can give him is that they don’t really miss Reece James and Mauricio Pochettino might just have a big decision to make in that position.’

James, who came through the Chelsea academy, has made 156 first-team appearances for the Blues to date.

He helped Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021 as well as the Club World Cup and Super Cup.
