Chelsea’s injury problems continue ahead of their London derby against Tottenham tonight with Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi joining their absentee list.

Cole Palmer was back in the starting XI as the Blues rescued a point away to Aston Villa on Saturday night – denied a dramatic winner after Axel Disasi’s effort was ruled out by VAR.

Silva, who this week officially announced he will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, has undergone scans on a groin injury he suffered in Saturday’s draw.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mauricio Pochettino confirmed he will have no role to play against Spurs.

Axel Disasi, a candidate to replace him at the back, has also been ruled out.

‘No good news because we cannot recall any players from the last [injury] list,’ Pochettino said on Wednesday. ‘And we need to add two more – Disasi and Thiago, they are not available for tomorrow.’

Last week, Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling, Malo Gusto and Carney Chukwuemeka were also sidelined.

Fernandez will miss the rest of the season having undergone surgery.

Reece James and Levi Colwill returned to ‘partial’ first-team training last week although they are still not ready to return to first-team action.

Tottenham meanwhile must quickly dust themselves down after their north London derby defeat to Arsenal but must do so with two fresh injury problems of their own.

Destiny Udogie is ruled out for the rest of the season with Ben Davies replacing him in the 3-2 defeat against the Gunners.

The Welshman was forced off in the 87th minute however with Ange Postecoglou confirming he is now likely to miss the remainder of the season.

Timo Werner is also expected to miss the final weeks of the campaign. He was replaced after just 31 minutes by Brennan Johnson on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
