The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for their next big game, which is Sunday, October 19, against the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s been a mixed season for the Chiefs so far, with some exciting wins and devastating losses. Their latest matchup was a 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 12, and that made them 3-2 for the season.
Now, the Chiefs are ready to take the field at Arrowhead Stadium again, and this time, they’re going to have a bit more steam than they had last weekend. That’s because the Chiefs will have one of their key players back after a lengthy suspension that’s lasted for the first part of the 2025-26 season.
We’re talking about Rashee Rice. The wide receiver was absent for the first six games of the 2025 NFL season because of a high-profile suspension for violating the personal conduct policy. So, his first game back will be Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. This will actually mark the first time Rice is back on the field since Week 4 of the 2024 season, when he had a season-ending knee injury. As expected, Rice is overjoyed about his return and ready to rock it, and he’s making that known.
Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice Gets Emotional
Rice is emotional about his return to the field, and he isn’t afraid to show it. On Friday, October 17, he talked about getting back with his team.
“I’ve been looking forward to this probably for… it’s been like 380 something days I haven’t played a regular season game,” he said. “I haven’t played a regular season game and despite the regular season, we still have a while offseason before that where we were training super hard to get ready for that prior season. So, I mean, it’s been a long time coming and that time’s finally here.”
Kansas City Chiefs Standing in the NFL
So, the Chiefs are on top of the world again, but not everyone in the NFL is convinced. Even with their win over the Lions, the Chiefs are No. 9 on ESPN’s Week 7 Power Rankings. But, ESPN’s Nate Taylor says, “the offensive line is no longer an issue,” which is a positive.
“Much of the Chiefs’ offseason was about general manager Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid fixing the offensive line, especially at left tackle,” he says. “The Chiefs signed left tackle Jaylon Moore in free agency and selected rookie left tackle Josh Simmons in the draft. They also moved Kingsley Suamataia to left guard to replace Joe Thuney, who was traded to the Bears.”
Taylor adds, “Each player in the trio has performed well, making the offensive line a strength once again for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.”
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has Mahomes as the No. 5 best quarterback in the league for Week 7. “The Chiefs finally looked like themselves in Sunday’s rout of the Lions,” he says. “And Mahomes was arguably the biggest reason why, setting the tone with tough scrambles, then spreading the ball all over the field to maximize K.C.’s gadget weapons.”
Having Rice back should help the Chiefs a lot on Sunday and beyond that game. He’s is obviously thrilled to be back, and the Kansas City Chiefs are happy to have him.
