Colts’ Daniel Jones Throws Jab At Critics After Week 7 Victory

In what can be a surprise to many, the Indianapolis Colts currently hold the best record in the NFL through seven weeks.

Indy is on a three game unbeaten streak, extending their record to 6-1, with the only loss of the season coming from the Los Angeles Rams, in a game in which the Colts had a chance of winning.

Everything is clicking for the Indianapolis this season, especically key free agent signing Daniel Jones, who is on track to have his best career season yet.

The quarterback appears to get better every game he has under the belt for head coach Shane Steichen and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, having throw for two touchdown passes in three straight games.

After the win in Week 7, Jones threw a bit of shade to his critics.

The former New York Giant quarterback appears to have revitilzied his career in his one-year deal with Indianapolis.

The $14 million signing in logged 288 passing yards and two pass touchdowns in the Week 7 matchup against a solid Los Angeles Chargers defense, in what was one of his better games with the Indianapolis Colts so far.

Jones was asked by a reporter on what people should know about the team that wasn’t orginally known at the beginning of the season after the team the Colts beat the Los Angeles Chargers, 38-24, in Week 7.

“Sounds like y’all didn’t know much,” Jones responded. “We’re just gonna keep going, keep working. We have a lot of confidence and a lot of good players. Guys who work hard and do the right things.”

The comment wasn’t directed to anyone in specific, but it can be applied to those who questioned the Colts move to sign the quarterback or any person who has critiziced Jones before playing in an official game for Indianapolis.

Jones signed with the AFC South team to have an opportunity to compete for the starting job. He won the comeptition over third year quarterback Anthony Richardson and is proving to be the right choice for Indy’s future.

The former Duke Blue Devil is currently playing like one of the better quarterbacks in the league. He is currently in the top 5 in passing yards and tied for second for most rushing touchdowns by a QB this season.

In an quarterback rankings before Week 6 of the 2025 season, NFL website writer Nick Shook ranked Jones as the 10th best quarterback.

While, sure, there are more experienced winning options for MVP, Jones is at least a dark horse candidate to win the Most Valuable Player award. While he is certainly raising eyebrows from around the league, the Colts quarterback will have a better chance at winning the Most Improved Player award.

Many were skeptical if Daniel Jones was the right option to lead the Colts. Now, Jones is helping the Colts make a playoff push.
