NFL insider Tom Pelissero cleared the heavy air surrounding Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren on Saturday morning, confirming that the rookie is good to go for Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Warren popped up on the injury report earlier in the week with an apparent toe issue. He sat out Wednesday’s practice and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.
The weekend seems to have brought better fortune for the reigning NFL rookie of the week, as he is now a full go for the thriving Colts offense.
Warren Already Rookie of the Year Candidate
As the Indianapolis Colts and journeyman quarterback Daniel Jones have shocked the NFL through two weeks with outstanding offensive output, Warren has immediately become a catalyst within the unit.
The Penn State product leads all tight ends in receiving yards through two weeks with 155. Warren caught seven passes for 76 yards in his NFL debut, and then followed that performance up last week with four catches for 79 yards.
Warren was selected 14th overall in the NFL Draft this year, after spending five seasons in college with the Nittany Lions. The 6-foot-6 tight end played a limited role in his first four collegiate seasons, but absolutely exploded in his final year, catching 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. His season was so prolific that he finished seventh in Heisman voting as one of only four non-quarterbacks in the top 10. He finished one spot above Shedeur Sanders in the voting.
That college success seems to have rolled right into the NFL as he has already become the most efficient tight end in the league through two weeks.
Colts Explode Out Of The Gate, Off To 2-0 Start
The 2025 Colts season was supposed to be a bridge year, despite a talented roster. Quarterback Anthony Richardson was benched after he underperformed to start his career and was replaced with a replacement level quarterback in Daniel Jones.
Jones, probably better known as “Danny Dimes” or “Indiana Jones” these days, has performed above and beyond replacement level however, shattering expectations from everybody after his New York Giants career left a lot to be desired.
Through two weeks, Jones has the third most passing yards in the NFL at 588, sporting a stellar QBR of 111.1, higher than current MVP frontrunner Josh Allen. Jones has completed 71.4 percent of his passes to a variety of different receivers.
The Colts offense lacks top end talent outside of running back Jonathan Taylor, but what their wide receiver and tight end rooms do offer is a wealth of depth. Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell have each played integral roles in the two Indianapolis wins so far, while Warren has been the best tight end in the league.
The Colts will face off with AFC South rival Tennessee on Sunday, Sept. 21, where they are favored by 4.5 points on the road against a winless Titans team.
