The New York Giants have been dealt a harsh hand in 2025 in terms of injuries.
It started with up-and-coming star wide receiver Malik Nabers tearing his ACL in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Then continued with rookie sensation Cam Skattebo fracturing his ankle in Week 8 against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.
The injuries have piled up, leaving rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart little to nothing to work with.
New York didn’t have many able-bodied wideouts for Jameis Winston to work with on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Isaiah Hodgins, a former Giant who had just been signed off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad the week of the game, led the team in receiving.
With Dart expected back in the fold this week, New York cannot trot out the same receiving core and expect positive results.
Which is why they should consider bringing back an old friend to bolster their wideout room.
Could the Giants Bring Back Odell Beckham Jr.?
Former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was reinstated on Tuesday after serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s PED policy.
Beckham is now eligible to sign with any team and play immediately.
There hasn’t been any reported interest in Beckham from wide receiver-needy contending teams, which could leave the door open for a reunion in New York.
Should the Giants, with all of their receiver woes, give the 33-year-old a shot?
At this rate, New York has nothing to lose, and it’s not like adding Beckham to the lineup would take away reps from players who need them.
If anything, the Giants just need more depth at the position.
With their top receivers being Wan’Dale Robinson and Hodgins, Beckham could come in and have a role immediately.
It’s not like Jalin Hyatt, the team’s disappointing 2023 third-round pick, is giving you more than Beckham would at this stage in his Giants tenure.
If the Giants want to keep the development of Dart moving in the right direction, they’ll give him as many weapons as possible to work with, and Beckham is arguably the best available pass catcher on the market.
How Likely is a Giants-Odell Beckham Reunion?
Unfortunately, the New York Giants are not likely to bring Beckham back to New York, even with their current woes at the position.
The fact of the matter is, the former LSU standout hasn’t put together a productive NFL season since 2019.
Last year, Beckham appeared in nine games for the Miami Dolphins and caught only nine balls for 55 yards.
Before that, he was with the Baltimore Ravens, where he played 14 games with Lamar Jackson, catching 27 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
Beckham just isn’t a No. 1 receiving option anymore and is a rotational wide receiver.
GMEN HQ’s Matt Sidney thinks that Beckham isn’t a fit because of where the Giants are as a team.
“For New York Giants fans wondering whether a reunion might still be in the cards — don’t hold your breath,” wrote Sidney.
“Beckham’s return to eligibility is mildly interesting from a storyline perspective, but it doesn’t move the needle in the slightest for where this team is at right now, which is equal parts bummer and understandable.”
While certainly not a needle-mover, the addition of Beckham would certainly be exciting for longtime fans and would at least be another pass-catching option for Dart.
