Oliver Glasner has shared an update on the fitness of Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta ahead of Crystal Palace’s Premier League clash against Wolves.

Palace travel to Molineux on Saturday for what will be Rob Edwards’ first game in charge of the Wolverhampton club.

Edwards replaces Vitor Pereira who was sacked at the beginning of November after a disastrous start to the season, with Wolves bottom of the table after picking up just two points from their opening 11 games.

Any hope of a ‘new manager bounce’ may be scuppered by Palace however, who have been tough to beat this season.

The Eagles have lost just twice in the league and only top of the table Arsenal and Manchester City boast a better defensive record.

Centre-back Guehi has been instrumental to this but there was concern after he picked up a painful ankle injury during the Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar two weeks ago, which left the player on crutches.

The Palace captain subsequently missed the goalless draw with Brighton and while it was thought he would recover in time to play for England last week, the 25-year-old was unable to train and forced to pull out of the Three Lions camp.

Thankfully for Palace fans, Glasner has confirmed that Guehi has returned to training in the last few days and will be available for selection against Wolves.

‘Fortunately, Marc started training with on Wednesday, so he did now three sessions. It’s good,’ the manager said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Glasner also revealed that star striker Jean-Philippe Mateta picked up a ‘minor knee issue’ during the international break but claimed that ‘all players are fit’.

‘Eddie Nketiah trained the whole week, starting on Monday, so he’s fine and will be in the squad.

‘JP [Mateta] came back with a minor knee issue from [playing with] France, but trained today with no issues, so he’s also fit, so all good news.

‘It’s the first time now all the players in training on Thursday [after an international break]. Usually it’s the Friday training with them. The players looked very good, very sharp today.

‘The players are fit. We have a great mood, a great energy in the group, so I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t continue this success. It’s up to us, it’s our responsibility.’
