Dan Campbell Announces Concerning Lions News Before Chiefs Game

The Detroit Lions are off to a hot start this season, and they’re clocking a 4-1 record heading into their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are 2-3, on Sunday, October 12. Other than the team’s first regular game of the season, when they fell to a rival in the NFC North who will remain unnamed, the Lions have really had one of the best opening seasons of any team in the NFL this year.

Now, the Lions will take on an angry Chiefs team, who just lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars. How embarrassing, right? All kidding aside, in reality, the Jags are off to a great start this season, and they were worthy opponents, but Kansas City is still very upset to have lost not just that game but two other games so far this regular season. So, they’ll be ready for a fight on Sunday.

The Lions take on the Chiefs on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, but Detroit isn’t scared of a little road game. Now, however, head coach Dan Campbell has dropped some concerning news about the team as they gear up for Sunday’s game.

Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker has been dealing with a shoulder injury all season, and he didn’t appear in the team’s 37-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. At first, there were hopes that Decker’s injury would be short lived and that he would be back on the field before too long. But, based on some of Campbell’s comments this week, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

“Every week, the recovery has been less and less,” Campbell told the press on Wednesday, October 8. “He’s not been able to quite catch up. We feel like there’s diminishing returns each week. Man, it’s a little, ah. We just felt like we need to give this guy a little time, and I don’t know how long.”

Our favorite Metallica rocker added, “But, this is so we get him back. That’s what this is, man, let’s get this thing to calm down. Let’s get some strength back in the shoulder to where he feels good.”

In Better Detroit Lions News

That’s a crushing update from Campbell. But, in better news, one of the Lions’ key players, Amon-Ra St. Brown, who was a non-participant on Wednesday, October 8, due to a wrist injury, was back on the field and practicing on Thursday. He was a full participant, so St. Brown is expected to play at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Also, ahead of Sunday’s game, the Detroit Lions have been named the No. 1 team in the NFL by ESPN. The outlet has released its power rankings for all of the NFL teams heading into Week 6, and in the Tuesday, October 7 piece, they have the Detroit Lions on top.

It’s such a great time to be following the Detroit Lions. Now, come Sunday, the team better give Taylor Swift (who will likely be at the game) a show and show her how the Motor City does things.
