Derrick Henry Just 262 Yards Away From Breaking 1 of His Most Insane Records

Ravens star Derrick Henry has been breaking tackles — and records — for years, but one of his most jaw-dropping milestones is about to fall. The Baltimore Ravens running back is now just 262 yards away from surpassing the total rushing yards he racked up in his legendary high school career.

Derrick Henry Is Closing In on His Wild High School Record

Henry rushed for 12,124 yards during his four years at Yulee High School in Florida — a national record that still stands today. Through Week 7 of his 10th NFL season, he’s already amassed 11,862 rushing yards at the professional level. If he maintains his current pace, the three-time Pro Bowler could eclipse that wild high school total within the next few games.

For a player who once looked unstoppable against teenage defenders, the fact that he’s closing in on that number in the NFL shows just how consistent and dominant he’s been since the beginning.

King Henry’s Dominance Started Long Before the NFL

Before he became “King Henry,” Henry was rewriting record books at Yulee High School. From 2008 to 2012, he rushed for 12,124 yards and 153 touchdowns, breaking the long-standing national record previously held by Ken Hall, who ran for 11,232 yards in the 1950s, per BroBible.

By his senior year, Henry was the top football recruit in the country — and he lived up to the hype at every level that followed. He won the Heisman Trophy and a national championship at Alabama before joining the Tennessee Titans, where he quickly became one of the league’s most feared runners.

In 2020, Henry rushed for over 2,000 yards, becoming just the eighth player in NFL history to do so. Now, in his first season with the Ravens, the 31-year-old continues to prove why he’s one of the most physically dominant players in football.

Derrick Henry Still Sets the Standard for Power and Longevity

Even in his 10th season, Henry’s combination of power, speed, and endurance continues to separate him from nearly everyone who’s played the position. Currently ranked 18th on the NFL’s all-time rushing list, he’s within reach of moving into the top 15 by the end of the year.

Henry has also been open about his motivation and frustration this season. After a tough Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, he didn’t hide his disappointment after failing to score on a goal-line attempt.

“I pride myself on being physical,” Henry told USA Today. “On the 1-yard line, you gotta get it in. Had two instances where we had not getting it in. That pisses me off.”

As Henry heads into the second half of the season, another personal milestone is within reach — one that perfectly illustrates the staying power of a running back who’s been dominant at every level of the game. With only 262 yards standing between him and that 12,124-yard total, the next record-breaking moment might come any week now.

Henry’s next opportunity to add to his total comes in Week 8 when the Ravens face the Chicago Bears at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 PM EDT (CBS/Paramount+).

After that, the Ravens hit the road for two straight matchups:

Week 9 (Thursday, October 30 at 8:15 PM EDT) — at the Miami Dolphins (Prime Video)

Week 10 (Sunday, November 9 at 1:00 PM EST) — at the Minnesota Vikings
