Detroit Lions Reveal Major News on Amon-Ra St. Brown

The Detroit Lions and New York Giants had an exciting game on Sunday, November 23, and even though it was much closer than the Lions would have liked, in the end, winning is what really matters. The Colts, spearheaded by quarterback Daniel Jones, lead the Lions for most of the game, but they fell in overtime, and Detroit took the win with a 34-27 final score.

So, the Lions now have a 6-4 record heading into their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers, and the Giants have a 2-10 record. This record made the Giants the first team eliminated from the NFL playoffs, according to NFL research.

Not only did the Lions pull off a win during a stressful day at Ford Field, but star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown notched a massive NFL record. It’s certainly special to have someone like St. Brown on Detroit’s squad, and while he was quiet in the Lions’ game against the Eagles last weekend, he was anything but against the Colts.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Makes History During Detroit Lions vs Colts Game

During the game, the Detroit Lions took to X to announced that St. Brown has reached 500-career receptions in just 77-career games. “This marks the second-fewest games needed to accumulate 500 receptions in NFL history,” the Lions’ team said.

He wasn’t alone in making history, either. During the contest, quarterback Jared Goff made franchise history by throwing for a touchdown in 17-straight games, marking the second-longest streak in franchise history, according to Lions research. This is also the third time in Lions history that a quarterback has thrown a touchdown in each of the first 11 games of a season,” they announced during the game.

So, both St. Brown and Goff had huge days against the Giants. It may not have meant a blowout win on the field, but in the end, the Lions had grit and squeaked out a win, which means something.

As Christian Romo of the Detroit Free Press notes, even though the Lions didn’t have to win this game to make the playoffs, they needed to “bank a win against a sub-.500 opponent after their 16-9 Week 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles knocked them out of the top seven in the NFC playoffs.”

Detroit Lions Win Despite Injuries

He also notes that when it comes to injuries, the Detroit Lions were without starting tight end Sam LaPorta, who’s out for the season, and were also missing three defensive starters for the game: Kerby Joseph, Terrion Arnold and Marcus Davenport. But, cornerback D.J. Reed was back in action, which helped.

Oh, and looking at past games, remember the exchange that St. Brown and Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne  had during the Commanders game on November 9, which resulted in Payne being ejected from the game? Payne was ejected after punching St. Brown in the second quarter.

Well, the NFL threw the book at Payne, and he was actually suspended for one game following that Lions contest. Being out one game means Payne is losing $1.087 million this season, since that’s what he makes in one game, according to research from Over the Cap.
