When the Miami Dolphins landed Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, the expectation was for him to be the top wide receiver in the NFL. Throughout parts of Hill’s time with the Dolphins, there’s no debate that he’s arguably been the best. In 2023, it was tough to say that there was any player on his level, as he posted 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns.Â
Fast forward two years, and Hill recently had his first 30-yard-plus reception in a game in over a year. For a Dolphins team that’s built on speed, they need Hill to be the type of player that he was expected to be. Unfortunately, for many reasons, that hasn’t been the case.Â
Given some of his previous comments, it also makes sense for the Dolphins to consider trading him. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes that should happen, proposing an idea to send him to the Pittsburgh Steelers.Â
âPhillips isn’t the only player the Dolphins should look to move if the losses mount. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill would be a logical trade chip for a couple of reasons…
âThe conditional third-round pick the Las Vegas Raiders received for Davante Adams last season is probably the starting point,â he wrote.
Are the Steelers a Destination for Tyreek Hill?
Reports have indicated over the past few weeks that the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in training for the Miami Dolphins. However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that hasn’t been the case.Â
He stated that the Dolphins have yet to field any trade inquiries on their star wide receiver, but itâs certainly possible that could change if the Dolphins don’t turn things around in the immediate future.
âAs of Saturday, sources told Schefter, the Dolphins have not fielded any trade inquiries on Hill, who is in the second year of a restructured three-year, $90 million contract,â the report read. âThe Dolphins already exercised Hillâs $15.85 million option bonus for this season, leaving a $10 million base salary and $1.8 million in per-game bonuses.â
Dolphins Need to Cut Ties
Regarding Hillâs comments for the Miami Dolphins, they’re tough to justify in some sense. Of course, when teams get eliminated from postseason contention at the end of the year, sparks fly, but for Hill to say that he was âoutâ and wanted to leave doesn’t bring anything to the table.Â
Factor that in with some of his off-the-field issues and below-average play at times against elite teams, and it might be in the Dolphins’ best interest to call it a day.
âI donât even know, bruh,â Hill told Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. âThis is my first time I havenât been in the playoffs, man, so, I mean, for me, Iâve just got to do whatâs best for me and my family. If thatâs here, or wherever the case may be, Iâm [about to] open that door for myself. â¦
âYeah, Iâm opening the door â Iâm out, bruh. So, it was great playing here, but at the end of the day, Iâve got to do whatâs best for my career and whatâs best â because Iâm too much of a competitor to be just out there.â
