Borussia Dortmund are ready to reignite their interest in Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri this summer.

Nwaneri, 19, has spent the second-half of the season out on loan at Marseille in France having failed to start a single Premier League game under Mikel Arteta.

Despite a bright start, his loan spell in Ligue 1 has come to an underwhelming end, bringing the curtains down on a difficult 2025-26 season.

The Hale End academy graduate has been named among the small group of players who could be sold if the right offer comes in with Arsenal plotting another big summer.

Nwaneri signed a new contract at the Emirates last August, ending Chelsea’s ambitious efforts to tempt him across the capital to Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund were also interested in his services with Sky Germany claiming he is once again under discussion at Signal Iduna Park.

The German giants are eager to sign a no10 who can also play out wide this summer. Jadon Sancho has been tipped to return to Dortmund for a third time when his contract at Manchester United finally ends this summer. But the report reveals interest in the 26-year-old has cooled.

Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn, Matias Fernandez of Lille and Colombian youngster Samuel Martinez are also among the options being considered but Nwaneri is still highly-thought of.

Dortmund will make ‘another attempt’ to sign the teenager having already inquired into his situation.

Crucially, Nwaneri is said to be ‘open’ to the move although a deal is currently regarded as ‘unlikely’ due to the difficulty in agreeing a loan and the transfer fee Arsenal would likely demand.

It was reported last month Arsenal will demand a combined fee of £100m for Nwaneri and his fellow academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly if the pair are sold this summer.

Lewis-Skelly’s first-team prospects have looked much brighter in recent weeks but Manchester United have been credited with keen interest.

Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli could also be sold this summer.
