The Philadelphia Eagles continued where they left off last week with a block party in Tampa today in the first quarter when Cameron Latu blocked a punt that Sydney Brown returned 35 yards the give the Birds an early 7-0 lead. After the Bucs went 3 and out on their next series the Eagles went 73 yards on eight plays that resulted in the first of two Dallas Goedert touchdown grabs from Jalen Hurts and the Birds seemed to be off and running taking a 24-6 lead into halftime at Raymond James Stadium.

But the Eagles’ offense sputtered to start the second half with three straight three and outs and their defense contributed with some mental lapses as Bucs rookie Emeka Egbuka got behind the Birds’ secondary for a 77 yard touchdown grab to cut Philly’s lead to 24-13.
Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers
When the Bucs got the ball back Bucky Irving fumbled two plays later at the Tampa 25 yard line which the Eagles turned into seven more points on a fake tush push to Saquon Barkley from six yards out.
Irving would make up for his blunder four plays later with a 72 yard touchdown grab from Baker Mayfield to get his team right back into the game, cutting the Eagles lead to 11, 31-20 after three quarters of play.
Chase McLaughlin’s 58 yard field goal made it a one score game early in the final quarter, 31-23. McLaughlin also hit a 65 yard field goal at the second quarter gun.
Offense Bad, Defense Good
The Birds offense only posted two first downs in the second half and went three and out four times in six possessions in the final two quarters and get this, Jalen Hurts did not complete a pass in the second half (0-8) but their defense came up big to hold off the Bucs’ Big Mo with a Jihad Campbell interception with four minutes left just inside the Birds’ own goal line. Then they held off the Bucs one last time with just under a minute left at midfield forcing Tampa to turn the ball over on downs. Two turnovers and a punt block returned for a score was the difference as the Eagles move to a perfect 4-0 and are back home next weekend to host the Denver Broncos.
