There’s something both oddly unique and wholly impressive about the way the Philadelphia Eagles accumulate quality running backs.
Philly tends to stack ball carriers the way some people collect vinyl. Saquon Barkley is widely regarded as the best running back in the NFL, but it’s the depth behind him that makes the Eagles RBs room the envy of much of the league.
Behind Barkley, Tank Bigsby broke out this season in a relief appearance, the shifty Will Shipley is currently listed ahead of Bigsby on the team’s depth chart, with veteran chain-mover A.J. Dillon rounding out the room.
With such a bounty of quality RBs, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon named one of Barkley’s backups as the team’s “most valuable” trade piece heading into 2026.
RB Tank Bigsby Named Philadelphia Eagles Best Trade Chip

GettyRB Tank Bigsby has been name the most valuable trade chip for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2026.
So far, in eight games with the Eagles, Bigsby has 13 carries for 122 yards. He has yet to find the end zone, but his average per carry (a ridiculous 9.4 per attempt) has to have the attention of RB-needy teams.
“A preseason addition via trade from the Jaguars, Bigsby scored eight touchdowns in 2024 and went over 100 yards in place of an injured Saquon Barkley in Week 8. He’s still just 24 and remains under team control for 2026, but there might not be enough room for him with 2024 fourth-round pick Will Shipley also in the mix,” Gagnon wrote on November 14.
During his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bigsby had 910 yards on 223 attempts (4.1 per carry) with nine touchdowns over the 2023–24 seasons plus one game in 2025. Serving as the primary backup for Travis Etienne, Bigsby had his best season in 2024: 766 yards on the ground and seven TDs, (4.6 yards per carry).
He has served as a backup his entire career, so there’s a good chance another team could want to give the 5-foot-11, 215-pound RB an audition to be a lead back at some point in the near future.
Would Philly Be Willing to Send Bigsby Elsewhere Next Year?
So, why would the Eagles entertain trading him?
The best argument is because they value Shipley a great deal. At 5-foot-11 and 209 pounds, Shipley may look similar to Bigsby on paper, but his playing style is very different. A fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2024, Shipley is a more versatile player. He’s a very good route-runner out of the backfield, and he has soft hands and the ability to line up out wide or in the slot.
That said, Bigsby is the player with real league-wide appeal. He’d be cheap, as he’s under contract through 2026. At 6 feet and around 210 pounds, he’s called Tank for a reason. He runs decisively, and with some juice, but he’s patient enough to let his blocks develop. Other general managers can probably very easily imagine giving him 200 carries in a different uniform.
For a team evaluating trade candidates next year, Bigsby’s appeal lies in the combination of affordable salary, a skill set that fits multiple run schemes and enough untapped ceiling to justify a mid-round pick. It’d be easy to see why teams like the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals or the Cincinnati Bengals would be interested.
We’re a ways away from the 2026 offseason, but when it hits, Bigsby’s is a name that could draw definite interest.
