The English Open gets underway in Brentwood on Thursday, with most of snooker’s top stars in Essex scrapping it out for the Steve Davis Trophy.
Neil Robertson is the defending champion at the English Open after beating Wu Yize in a memorable final last season.
The Australian has already won the huge-money Saudi Arabia Masters this campaign, so will be heading back to Brentwood full of confidence in retaining his title.
There are some star names missing, with the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins opting out of the event, but there is still no shortage of talent in the field.
World number one Judd Trump and world champion Zhao Xintong will be in action as they both look for their first titles of the season.
The likes of Kyren Wilson, Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, Mark Allen and Ding Junhui are all in the competition as well and very much in contention to get their hands on the trophy.
It is a tiered draw system, so the opening rounds see the lowest-ranked players competing against each other, with the top 32 seeds not entering the fray until Monday and Tuesday.

When is the English Open?
The tournament runs from September 11-21 at the Brentwood Centre in Essex.
How to watch the English Open
The opening two rounds are being shown in the UK on Discovery+.
From round three onwards the coverage is on both TNT Sports and Discovery+. Freeview channel DMAX is also showing weekday afternoon sessions from round three onwards and all weekend sessions.
