Bayern Munich have held initial talks over a 2026 move for Marc Guehi, threatening to beat Liverpool to the defender they narrowly missed out on in the summer.
A deal was on the verge of completion to take Guehi to Anfield on transfer deadline day, but as Crystal Palace had not signed a replacement, they pulled the plug on the move.
Guehi has acted impeccably throughout Liverpool’s pursuit of him and after the failed move, continuing to play and perform well for the Eagles and England.
The centre-back is now into the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, so it appears likely he will now depart on a free transfer next summer, or the Eagles will cash in as much as they can in January.
There will be no shortage of suitors for the 25-year-old, with Liverpool likelyto still be keen on his signature, but just because they came so close in September, doesn’t mean they will get their man next year.

Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich have held initial talks with Guehi’s representatives, with director of sport Max Eberl reportedly a big fan of the defender.
The report states that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are also considering a move for Guehi, so he really does have a stellar array of options in front of him.

Guehi has been philosophical about his failed move to Liverpool, despite clearly wanting to complete the switch to the Premier League champions.
‘The sun goes up, the sun comes down. Life goes on,’ he said.
‘That’s my mindset, and if you adopt that mindset in most things, you just get on with life and move on.
‘Fortunately for me I’m at a football club that has helped me and given me so much. So it does make it that much easier.’

Bayern Munich could offer some familiar faces for Guehi, with former Crystal Palace star Michael Olise starring for the Bavarians, as is England captain Harry Kane.
There has been transfer talk of Kane returning to the Premier League before the end of his Bayern contract in 2027, but he suggests that is unlikely and he could even remain in Munich beyond his current deal.
‘In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that,’ he said. ‘I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

‘Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.
‘In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.
‘Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.
‘What I have learned in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now I am fully all in with Bayern.’
