Fans Criticize TennisTV for Taylor Fritz Snub Ahead of US Open

When the 2025 US Open draw dropped on Thursday, world No. 4 Taylor Fritz was seemingly snubbed by TennisTV.

Despite the US Open‘s main account on Twitter referring to Fritz’s quarter of the draw as “Fritz’s Quarter,” TennisTV’s graphic featured an image of 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic. While Djokovic is far and away the most accomplished player in the tournament, he’s notably seeded No. 7 in this year’s draw.

Fans quickly began to weigh in: “The disrespect to Fritz the 4th seed.”

One wrote: “Not the @Taylor_Fritz97 seed disrespect on the image.. smh”

Another replied: “Kinda disrespectful to put Djokovic in the picture when it is Fritz’s quarter. If this was done to Djokovic, his fans would riot.”

But that wasn’t all, plenty of others took aim at TennisTV for the decision as well: “Fritz should be in the picture. He’s n. 4. Nole is n. 7 WTF!”

Another joked: “It’s literally the Fritz quarter why not just put Monfils on the Zverev quarter.”

Taylor Fritz Talks About Upcoming US Open

Last season, Fritz went on an impressive run at Flushing Meadows that saw him reach the final without going to a fifth set. Although he came up short against Jannik Sinner in the final, the world No. 4 is eager to make another deep run at this year’s US Open.

With just days to go until his first-round match with Emilio Nava, Fritz spoke with Sports Illustrated about the nerves and excitement heading into the US Open:

“I always feel like I go into the U.S. Open [I’m] really excited, but with some nerves. It’s by far the biggest event for all the American guys. I have a lot of confidence there. I want to do well there. I’m excited to go back as the former finalist. I think it’s going to be great to be back on court there.”

“I’m feeling confident. As long as I’m feeling confident and good about my game, and go out and just really lock in and compete hard, then I feel pretty good about getting through a lot of matches early.”

With American fans eager to see an American man snap the 22-year drought, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out for Fritz in the weeks to come.

Looking at Fritz’s Potential Path to Another Final

As previously mentioned, Taylor Fritz will collide with fellow American Emilio Nava in the first round of the US Open.

From there, assuming Fritz is able to get the win, he could notably find himself on a collision course with another fellow American, Brandon Nakashima in the third round.

If the world No. 4 prevails, he could then wind up meeting Miami Open winner Jakub Mensik in the fourth round.

Should he manage to make it to the quarterfinals, he could meet potential opponents such as Novak Djokovic or Frances Tiafoe.

With a quarterfinal win, Fritz would then likely find himself up against notable opponents such as Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud, or Daniil Medvedev.

As the countdown to first-round action continues, anticipation is continuing to build.
