That title fell on the centre-back’s shoulders when the Red Devils forked out a whopping £80million to sign him from Leicester City in the summer of 2019.

And it’s also well-known that his future at Old Trafford is up in the air following two less-than-stellar seasons.

But what isn’t known by many is that Harry isn’t actually his first name.

It’s actually the former Leicester and Sheffield United man’s middle name.

Maguire’s first name is Jacob, but he has gone by Harry from a young age.

The United centre-back has also gone by the affectionate nickname “Slabhead” – earned thanks to his aerial prowess as well as his rather large skull.

Fans were amused to discover Maguire’s real name after taking a peak at his Wikipedia profile.

Another added: “It sounds so weird.”

And a third said: “Wait until you find out Harry Maguire’s real name is Jacob Maguire.”

Maguire’s future at Old Trafford was plunged into further doubt in August when United signed Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

He’s also repeatedly been linked with moves away from The Theatre of Dreams.

But he recently vowed to fight for his place in the starting XI, telling SunSport: “It is what happens when you play for this club.

“If you don’t get good results, players get scrutinised.

“Players get sold, put on the transfer list and the manager will also come under pressure.

“It is a long old career and you will always have ups and downs.

“It is the way you react to the downs which pushes you.”
