Former football player turned WWE star, Trick Williams, took a visit to Eagles training camp on Monday. Williams attended the Eagles’ rookie minicamp back in 2018 before retiring from football and pursuing wrestling.
Nikki Bella, another WWE wrestler, was there as well, making it a true WWE party in Philly. Eagles’ mascot Swoop posed with the TNA World Championship belt. The crossover between football and wrestling fans is high, making for a fun time for the fans in attendance.
Trick Williams’ Journey From Football Player to WWE Star

Williams has an unusual story, as you might expect for someone with such a dramatic career change. He played college football at Hampton College before forgoing his scholarship to walk on at South Carolina, his father’s alma mater. After going undrafted in 2017 and taking a year as an assistant coach at a local high school, Williams tried out at the Eagles’ rookie minicamp in 2018. He did not get a training camp invite, but he used the opportunity to launch his massive wrestling career.
Initially looking to get a chance with the now-defunct XFL football league, Williams ended up training with his uncle then moving to Los Angeles to work as an actor. He was quickly signed by WWE and blossomed into a star. He’s the reigning TNA World Champion, and made a triumphant return to Eagles camp on Monday.
Eagles Look to Repeat as Super Bowl Champs as Training Camp Wraps Up
The vibes are high in Philadelphia: they are the reigning Super Bowl champions, after all. As training camp draws to a close, attention turns to how the Eagles will handle their encore season. They kick off the season on opening night, hosting their arch-rivals, the Cowboys.
QB Jalen Hurts has made the playoffs in four of his five seasons as the starter. HC Nick Sirianni hasn’t missed the playoffs since he was hired. This roster is absolutely loaded, and only got more so this offseason. There’s a reason they’re among the favorites to repeat.
My eye is on second-round pick S Andrew Mukuba. Recent reports indicate he may have taken a lead over incumbent Sydney Brown as the second starter at safety. He had an elite senior season at Texas, proving his versatility as both a safety and a slot defender.
There will be some new faces involved. DT Moro Ojomo moves into a starting spot on the defensive line, as does ED Jalyx Hunt. They replace the departed Milton Williams and Josh Sweat, respectively. CB Adoree’ Jackson replaces CB Darius Slay, and G Tyler Steen replaces the (literal) big shoes of G Mekhi Becton. With LB Nakobe Dean likely to miss a chunk of the season, rookie first-round pick LB Jihaad Campbell has a big opportunity in his stead.
Despite all the new faces, the stars of this team remain the same. And they’re on a mission as we approach Week 1.
