The Green Bay Packers cut Jaire Alexander a week ago on Monday. And whilst the two-time All-Pro has not yet found a new home, it feels like only a matter of time before he is snatched up.
Whilst NFC North division rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, feels like the most obvious option for the Louisville product, there could well be other teams in play. Teams that are perhaps a little further from home.
On Tuesday, Lamar Jackson, two-time MVP and Baltimore Ravens franchise quarterback made a plea to general manager, Eric DeCosta, to sign Alexander, per Ari Meirov.

“Go get him Eric”, Jackson said to the media on Tuesday, when asked about Alexander having just hit the open market.
When subsequently asked if he had spoken to the former Packer about coming to Baltimore, Jackson replied, “Yeah I hit him up, I hit him up. But you don’t know, you never know with Jaire. That’s my boy.”
What Does Jaire Alexander Bring To The Table In 2025?
As Packers fans will know, Alexander once placed amongst the very top cover corners in the NFL, earning multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods in his first half decade in the pros.
Skip forward a couple of years, and not only has injury decimated his availability, with Alexander having only been able to play exactly half of the total games (34) of the past four seasons, but his level of play is not quite in keeping with his elite, top-tier prime.
The former Packer registered a 75.2 grade in 2024 across seven games. That ranked him as the #25 corner in league and well represents his status in the league: a clear starter – and for some teams, the CB1; but no longer belonging in the top echelons of cornerback play.
How Would Alexander Fit In With The Ravens?
Having moved fellow two-time All-Pro, Marlon Humphrey, to the slot in the middle of last season – to great defensive success – the Ravens do now have a small vacancy on the perimeter after the departure of cornerback, Brandon Stephens, to the New York Jets.
Journeyman corner, Chidobe Awuzie, is currently tipped to be the starting man on the outside opposite Humphrey and 2024 first round pick, Nate Wiggins, who is coming off an excellent rookie season.
But given Baltimore’s perennial “contender” status, it may well behoove them to opt for a higher-ceiling option at the position to start the season.
Jaire Alexander would slot in nicely in lieu of Awuzie, who would move to a backup role alongside 2024 fourth rounder, TJ Tampa, and sixth round rookies Bilhal Kone and Roger Longerbeam.
There is always the rather large gamble as to how much time Alexander will end up seeing on the field, but at reasonable enough price, it is certainly worth one taking for the Ravens.
