Arsenal lost the match 2-0 and are now two points and have handed the initiative to Manchester City.

In the match, many of Arteta’s stars failed to shine but fans have picked out three that stood out.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were criticised online.

One posted: “Arteta has decided to stick with Zinchenko at LB. Jesus at 9. And the horror of Havertz at 8. Never worked. Never will. He’s cost us.”

A second wrote: “Zinchenko and Jesus doing their best to hand City the title.”

A third commented: “Jesus and Zinchenko have blood on their hands today. Awful.”

A fourth said: “Arteta picking Zinchenko and Jesus has cost us this game.”

Another added: “Simply can’t believe Arteta today. If you’re going to rotate, that’s fine but do not change the whole dynamic of the team.

“The guys he chooses to trust let us all down. Yet again.

“Jesus & Zinchenko with two of the worst performances we’ll ever see.”

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson even argued that the club are out of the title race following the result.

He said on Sky Sports: “They are chasing the best team in the world that have done it year in and year out.

“It is not like we are wondering how Man City will get on.

“They will reel them off, they will just keep playing and playing and wiping teams away.

“If it was someone else, then maybe, but I have seen this team too many times.

“Arsenal are bang out of luck.”
