Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bold All-Time Scoring Prediction Will Catch LeBron James’ Attention

The Milwaukee Bucks managed to snap a seven-game losing streak on Saturday night with a comfortable 116-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. In his second game back from an adductor injury, Giannis Antetokounmpo led his squad to victory, as he scored 29 points and hauled in eight rebounds while shooting an efficient 80% from the field.

Along the way, Antetokounmpo made some history, as he became the sixth-youngest player in NBA history to score 21,000 career points. When reflecting on this milestone, Antetokounmpo made it clear he’s not content with what he’s achieved, and he issued a bold prediction on his scoring exploits that will surely catch the attention of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Pursuing LeBron James’ All-Time Scoring Record

Much has been made of Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks, and their slow 9-12 start to the season certainly won’t make the trade rumors that have swirled around him as of late go away. Despite all of that, though, Antetokounmpo has played some of the best basketball of his career early on this season. Through 15 games, Antetokounmpo is averaging 30.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game while shooting 64.3% from the field.

Even as he approaches his 31st birthday, Antetokounmpo has shown no signs of slowing down yet. As he continues to rack up large amounts of points on a nightly basis, many folks are beginning to wonder where he could end up finishing on some of the NBA’s all-time lists. Heck, Antetokounmpo is already among the top 50 scorers in the history of the league.

With 21,002 points to his name now, Antetokounmpo is slotted in at No. 42 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, and he still has a long way to go before his career is over. If Antetokounmpo can keep producing at this high level for another couple of years, he could quickly vault himself to the top of this list, and it sounds like he has his sights set on chasing down James, who is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 42,250 points.

“I think when I’m going to be 35 years old and sitting in this chair, I want to have a discussion of (how) I am in the top list of all-time in scoring,” Antetokounmpo boldly declared after the Bucks’ latest win.

While Antetokounmpo is already in rare air when it comes to the all-time scoring discussion, he isn’t even halfway to reaching James’ mammoth figure. Making things even more difficult for Antetokounmpo is that James is still playing and scoring at a high rate, and it remains to be seen how long the Greek superstar can play at this sort of level.

Even if Antetokounmpo plays 10 more years and racks up 2,000 points each season, that may not be enough to catch James. Antetokounmpo has a good shot at cracking the top-10 of this list, but James has put some serious distance between himself and the rest of the pack, and he’s not finished adding to his tally just yet. All Antetokounmpo can do is go out and keep scoring, which is what he will look to do when Milwaukee takes on the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
