New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo canât play right now, but he still made some noise this week by picking the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl. Asked on a recent stream which team heâd bet his life savings on, Skattebo went with the 9-2 Broncos over everyone â including his own Giants.
The injured rookie was riding in a car with streamer Neon when the Super Bowl question came up. Skattebo didnât hesitate to shout out Denver, saying the Broncos âare goodâ and âjust find a way to win games,â while admitting heâd love to say the Giants instead. He pointed right back to Denverâs wild comeback win over New York as proof.
Back in October, the Giants led the Broncos 26-8 in the fourth quarter at Empower Field before everything flipped. Denver scored 33 points in the final 15 minutes, erasing a 19-point deficit and stealing a 33-32 win on a walk-off Wil Lutz field goal in a game already being remembered as the âMile High Meltdown.â
Skattebo had done his part that day with a touchdown and close to 100 yards from scrimmage, but the Giantsâ defense simply couldnât close it out. Now, watching from home after a season-ending ankle injury, heâs leaning into that experience as a reason Denver can finish the job in February.
The Broncos have given him plenty of ammo. Sean Paytonâs team sits at 9-2, riding an eight-game winning streak and holding the No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into their bye week, with the best record in the conference and one of the top marks in the entire NFL.
Second-year quarterback Bo Nix has turned into a late-game killer, leading that historic rally over New York and stacking it with a prime-time win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. Denverâs defense has also carried a big load, holding opposing quarterbacks to one of the worst QBR marks in the league this season.
For a Giants team sitting at 2-9 and already looking toward 2026, Skatteboâs Broncos take is less about disrespecting his own locker room and more about recognizing who looks like a complete contender right now.
What Cam Skatteboâs Broncos Super Bowl Pick Says About the AFC Race
Skatteboâs opinion doesnât move betting markets, but it does show how opponents are viewing Denver after seeing them up close. He watched the Broncos hang 33 points in one quarter, erase a record win probability edge and celebrate as Giants players tried to process what just happened.
When a rookie who gashed Denver earlier in the year still comes away thinking, âYeah, thatâs the team Iâd ride with,â it backs up what national power rankings and playoff projections have been saying for weeks: the Broncos are no longer a cute story, theyâre a real problem in the AFC.
Denverâs path the rest of the way is manageable but not soft. After the bye, the Broncos go on the road to face the Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders before closing with a tougher stretch: home dates against the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars, a Christmas night trip to Kansas City and a potentially massive Week 18 home game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.
If Nix and the defense keep them in the AFCâs top seed through that run, Skatteboâs viral prediction will look less like a hot take and more like a popular bandwagon.
