The New York Giants finally had their first preseason game of the year on Saturday, August 9, and they came out of that game with a 34-25 win over the Buffalo Bills. The preseason is still going strong, and even though many don’t think the preseason games matter, it does give teams like the New York Giants the chance to try out their newer players and see how they do in action.
So far, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart hasn’t disappointed. He was solid in his first showing with the team, and that’s a good sign for the future of the franchise. But, chances are, veteran Russell Wilson will get most of the snaps this season. The Giants’ quarterback room is currently rounded out by veteran Jameis Winston and returning player Tommy DeVito.
Heading into Giants’ upcoming season, Wilson is getting some love from, of all people, a Broncos reporter. A lot of the Broncos don’t want to see Wilson doing well with his new team, whichever team that may be, but this reporter is predicting a huge year for Wilson and the Giants.

Wilson is set to start for the New York Giants this season, and one NFL expert thinks he’ll be ready. In a Saturday, August 16, feature for Predominantly Orange, Lou Scataglia makes a big prediction for the Giants.

“Russell Wilson could see insane success in 2025 due to Malik Nabers,” he says in the piece. We like the sound of that.
So, the two-word prediction is for Wilson to have “insane success.” Yes, please.
“One thing that Russell Wilson absolutely did not have with the Denver Broncos at any point was a wide receiver like Malik Nabers, and that’s putting it mildly. Nabers may already be a top-10 receiver in the NFL after just one year in the league.”
He predicts that “Nabers could end up forming quite the duo with the Broncos‘ former QB, leading to some unexpected success in 2025.”
It all makes sense. Last season, Nabers caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games, so yes, this player is on fire. Coupling him with Wilson could be dangerous in a very good way. It just builds the excitement and momentum for the upcoming Giants season.
Brian Daboll on Jaxon Dart’s First Game With the New York Giants
Wilson isn’t the only quarterback getting love. Following Dart’s preseason run, coach Brian Daboll had glowing things to say about him, noting, “It’s about what I thought he would do. Efficient, effective, aggressive, confident in the pocket. Still stuff we can work on, but he’s doing good.”
That game marked Dart’s first appearance in a game in the NFL, and he completed 12 of his 19 passing attempts for 154 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball three times for 24 yards.
Among the highlights for Dart was when he made a deep throw to Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a touchdown. The pass was in the air for about 35 yards, and it was huge. It’s exciting to see plays like that in the preseason, and hopefully Dart and Wilson will both have plays like this when the regular season starts.
