Golden State Warriors Make Key Announcement Amid Steph Curry Return

The Golden State Warriors expect Stephen Curry to return after a two-month absence with a knee injury on Sunday, April 4, against the Houston Rockets.

However, while an official Curry injury update, confirming his status for the game, has yet to be announced, the star remains on the Warriors’ injury report for the time being, and he is not alone.

Along with the Curry knee injury, Golden State has been devastated by health concerns this entire season. Before their game against the Rockets, the one in which the team expects the franchise star to return for, the Warriors still face a loaded injury report with some of their top contributors.

In the lead-up to the Sunday contest against Houston, the Bay Area franchise has several players listed on the injury report, some already ruled out, and some still with an uncertain status for the game.

Firstly, both Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Butler tore his ACL in January and isn’t expected to come back anytime soon. As for Moody, in his first game back in March after missing time with an elbow injury, he suffered a torn patellar tendon, and like Butler, is out for the year, and potentially longer.

In addition to those two, expected to miss months, and even up to a year, the Warriors have several other players who have already been ruled out against the Rockets.

Al Horford won’t play on Sunday due to a right soleus strain. He has been out since March 13, and while the veteran missed time throughout the year, he is reportedly making ‘good progress‘ on a potential return.

Other big man Quinten Post has also been ruled out for Sunday, most recently listed as ‘week-to-week‘ with a foot injury that already caused him to miss some time.

Along with them, the Warriors have listed Seth Curry, currently dealing with a left adductor injury, as questionable. He’s also been out for much of the year with several major health concerns after signing with the team in December, playing six games this season.

Gui Santos is officially listed as probable against Houston with a right pelvic contusion.

Health has been perhaps the biggest issue for the Warriors this season, but some good news is that both Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis, and Brandin Podziemski, three key Golden State contributors, do not have an injury designation.

Steph Curry Injury Update, Return Vs. Rockets

While the latest Steph Curry injury update points to a return vs. Rockets, the Golden State Warriors announced their injury report for Sunday.

Curry, the franchise star, is officially questionable on the Warriors’ injury report for Sunday. However, as reported, barring any setbacks, he is expected to make his injury return after more than two months out.

The Curry injury saga has been a long one, to say the least. Following several re-evaluation and return dates that got continually pushed back in February and March, Curry went through practice, hit all of his checkpoints, and is likely to get back on the court against Houston.

“I thought I was going to be out a week,” Curry said of the injury, per Anthony Slater of ESPN. “Ten days max. [But] every time I got on the court or tried to push it in that first month, there was always a reaction. You just knew it wasn’t healing as fast as you thought.”

However, after a lengthy recovery process, despite Curry saying there is no structural damage to his knee, he is expected to return on Sunday.

The Warriors have gone 9-18 in the 27 games he missed and sit tenth in the West with a 36-41 record, but head coach Steve Kerr has maintained that he believes the team can make waves in the playoffs with Curry back in the lineup.

In just 39 games this season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 46.8% shooting from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
