Here’s What Team USA Will Wear for Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black

With the PGA Tour and LIV seasons winding down, Ryder Cup season is in full swing, with Team USA taking a major step toward Bethpage Black.

No, we’re not talking about the roster, which is already half completed. Just as importantly (OK, maybe not), is we now know what Team USA will wear in the 2025 Ryder at Bethpage Black on Long Island.

Polo Ralph Lauren Drops 2025 Team USA Ryder Cup unis

The uniforms, made by Polo Ralph Lauren, were officially released a little more than a month before play begins.

The uniforms, per PGATour.com, were designed to “pay homage to the rich tradition of the host city” while also “including classic Americana.” That certainly means … something.

There was also this from the Tour website: “(The uniforms) spotlight the patriotic red, white and blue with some modern twists that were, according to the brand, designed to ‘reflect the unity, sportsmanship, and spirit of the U.S. Team (and) combine the rich heritage of the greatest team event in golf with innovative performance fabrics.’”

For rabid Team USA fans with a few hundred bucks to burn, Ralph Lauren and New Era are offering a uniform bundle that comes with a polo, a vest and a hat that mimics each day’s scripting. That will set you back $365.

‘Modeled by U.S. Team Captain Keegan Bradley’

While a Ryder Cup uniform drop isn’t exactly the most important news regarding the international tournament, it does serve as another reminder of what makes the 2025 playing so unique, especially for Team USA. In the PGA Tour story, captain Keegan Bradley is front and center. The story notes Bradley “modeled” the gear, and there are photos of him in the uniform.

At some point in the last few weeks (months?), Bradley had to take time out of his playing schedule to coordinate a media shoot with Ralph Lauren. That’s just one small example of the demands a captain faces leading up to the Ryder Cup, and it’s only going to intensify as the late-September tournament nears. Could Bradley really balance those off-course responsibilities and name himself to the team as a playing captain?

Rory McIlroy sure doesn’t think so.

Ryder Cup Uniforms Have Been Hot-Button Topic

Ryder Cup uniforms are especially interesting in an individual sport like golf where each player has his own style, and more importantly, his own sponsors. We’re so used to seeing Scottie Scheffler in head-to-toe Nike or Bryson DeChambeau in his Crushers gear.

Now, they’re all wearing the same thing, to the point where a simple hat can become a controversy. Like when McIlroy let the curls breathe in 2016 because of his “pea head.”

Or, of course, the 2023 Hatgate controversy from Patrick Cantlay in Rome. According to reports, Cantlay decided to go hatless because he apparently was making some sort of protest against not being properly compensated by the PGA of America for playing in the Ryder Cup.

It got so goofy that Cantlay was asked on the course following play Saturday why he wasn’t wearing a hat.

“It just doesn’t fit,” he told NBC Sports on the 18th green at Marco Simone in Rome. “It’s as simple as that. I didn’t wear it at Whistling Straits because the hat doesn’t just fit.”
