Jaxson Dart Nominated for Prestigious Award After Giants Win

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has been nominated for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for his Week 17 performance in a 34-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Giants fans, you can vote for your hopeful franchise quarterback here.

The Ole Miss product had one of his finest outings since returning from injury in Vegas, completing 22 of 30 passes for 207 yards, while carrying the ball nine times for 48 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Dart faces some stiff competition. Fellow rookie quarterbacks Quinn Ewers, Tyler Shough, and Cam Ward are on the ballot, as well as Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden.

Luckily, you can go vote as many times as you’d like.

Jaxson Dart on Pace for a Historic Rookie Season?

This isn’t the first time Dart has been in the running for Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week.

After each of his first six starts, the 2025 first-round pick was nominated for each of his performances, thanks to the electric start of his pro football career.

In fact, each of the New York Giants’ top four draft picks has been nominated at least once.

Rookie running back Cam Skattebo was nominated four times before going down with a fractured ankle in Week 8.

Defensive tackle Darius Alexander was nominated in Week 12 for his two-sack, two-tackle-for-loss performance against the Detroit Lions.

And finally, third overall pick Abdul Carter was nominated in Week 15 for his one sack and three tackles for loss outing in a losing effort to the Washington Commanders.

Overall, the Giants’ most recent draft class has been a hit, and that includes Dart.

Thanks to his early run of success, the rookie quarterback was named Offensive Rookie of the Month for October, a high honor considering the field of talented young players.

With one game remaining, Dart has the opportunity to etch his name into New York’s history books, trailing former quarterbacks Charlie Conerly (27 in 1948) and Daniel Jones (26 in 2019) for the most touchdowns by a rookie in team history.

It would require at least a five-touchdown outing against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

On Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Dart also propelled himself to the third-most rushing touchdowns in a rookie season all-time, surpassing Josh Allen’s eight scores in 2018.

He trails Billy Kilmer (10) and Cam Newton (14) with only one game to go.

Does Jaxson Dart Still Have a Chance at Offensive Rookie of the Year?

It’s fair to wonder what Dart’s season would have been like had he started Week 1 and had not missed two games due to a concussion.

Would the New York Giants rookie be the presumptive favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year? Could he have shattered those rookie touchdown records?

Maybe, but we’ll never know for sure.

Regardless, Ted Nguyen of The Athletic still thinks Dart should be in consideration for OROY.

“Dart didn’t start until Week 4 and missed two games with a concussion. If he misses more time, some voters could use that against him. Dart’s impact on the Giants offense is undeniable,” wrote Nguyen in early December.

“He sparked a lifeless offense and will make the Giants one of the most sought-after coaching jobs this offseason. His legs are obviously an asset, but he’s quickly developing as a pocket passer and has high-level accuracy.”

As of December 30, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is the favorite to win the award across most sports books, per Vegas Insider.

Following him are Tyler Shough and TreVeyon Henderson, with Dart being listed as the fourth-best odds.

The odds are not in his favor, but at least Dart may still end up with the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week award for Week 17.
