Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shared his verdict on the club making Arne Slot his replacement for when he leaves Anfield this summer.

Dutch boss Slot confirmed on Thursday that Liverpool and Feyenoord are in negotiations and that he is keen to succeed Klopp for the 2024-25 season.

Slot emerged as the frontrunner for the job after Xabi Alonso decided he wanted to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and he’s set to bring ‘crazy, sexy football’ to Liverpool.

Liverpool academy coach Jay Spearing is confident Slot is a great fit while Virgil van Dijk believes the Feyenoord boss has the right ‘philosophy’ for Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord captain Gernot Trauner is ‘very happy’ for Slot and feels he deserves the chance to take the ‘next step’ in his career.

Klopp has now shared his own opinion on Slot as he faced the media on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s trip to West Ham.

‘I didn’t read anything but [I know] Arne has said something,’ Klopp said. ‘I am not involved, club-wise.

‘I would like a lot that if he is the one he wants to take the job and is excited. I like his team’s style, all I hear about him as a guy.

‘Some people I know tell me. Good coach. All sounds really good to me. Best job and club in the world. And healthy, space for improvement. Fantastic people.’

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has expressed concern over Slot taking over from Klopp.

‘What I would say is that Feyenoord to Liverpool is a huge jump and I think it shows at the moment that there’s probably a dearth in terms of top managers out there,’ Carragher said.

‘I don’t think it’s like Rafa Benitez coming in or Jurgen Klopp coming in. Benitez came in off the back of two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup. Klopp came in off winning a couple of league titles with Borussia Dortmund and getting to a Champions League final.

‘I think it’s a huge jump. But he’s obviously a great coach, he’s got a great track record at the clubs that he’s been at so far. We’ll see.’
