The Houston Rockets put together an impressive win over the Denver Nuggets and Kevin Durant led all scorers with 31 points.
This game featured two of the top teams in the Western Conference and fans were in for a treat. During the third quarter of the game, the Rockets called a timeout after the Nuggets scored. As the teams were heading to their respective benches, Durant and Nuggets guard Bruce Brown were standing face-to-face having a verbal exchange. The two were former teammates with the Brooklyn Nets.
Referees had to step in and separate the two and Durant went back to his team’s bench. After the game, Durant gave a comment when asked about the confrontation with Brown.
“I definitely wanted to cross the line tonight. That’s basketball…ain’t no respect. Ain’t no love. Nothing.” Durant said per DNVR Nuggets on X, formerly Twitter.
Durant and Brown had choice words for each other
According to Brendan Vogt, Brown felt that there were lines that were crossed by Durant during the game. “As a man, there are certain things you don’t say to another man,” Brown said per Vogt’s post on X.
Brown also went on to tell reporters that he wished there was fighting in the league and that players wouldn’t get fined from it.
Durant put together an impressive offensive performance against Denver, notching his eighth 30-plus point game of the season. There was a lot of intensity in that game and Durant said he enjoyed it.
“I enjoy it when we go back and forth. That’s basketball,” Durant said. “And a lot of people say that’s missing from the game. When I do it, it’s a problem.”
Both Durant and Brown did not tell reporters exactly what they said during their brief altercation. These two will see each other again when the Rockets travel to Denver to finish out the season series on March 11.

Durant and Brown spent the 2020-21 and 2021-2022 seasons together with the Brooklyn Nets. During both seasons the Nets made it to the postseason.
The 20-21 season marked the first time Durant played with the Nets. He missed the previous season due to an injury. Durant appeared in 35 games in his first season with the Nets and averaged 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. The next season he averaged 29.9 points per game, appearing in 55 games.
Brown saw significant playing time in his first year with the Nets. He appeared in 65 games and made 37 starts during the 20-21 season and averaged 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
His numbers would increase the next season as he averaged nine points per game, appearing in 72 games with 45 starts.
These two once shared the court together and now they are battling against one another. That’s the nature of the game, one day you are on the same team trying to win games and the next day you might be going up against each other trying to defeat your opponent, who was once your teammate.
