Lakers LeBron James Admits He Watches More Golf Than Basketball

The Los Angeles Lakers are fighting to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference. Right now, they sit third in the Western Conference standings. LeBron James has finally returned to the lineup after missing the first month of the season with sciatica.

After taking a few games to knock the rust off, James has played great basketball since returning. Los Angeles has been able to reintegrate him into the lineup seamlessly. In his spare time, it doesn’t seem that James watches much basketball anymore.

In the past, James would watch League Pass when he wasn’t on the court or working out. Now, things are much different for the 40-year-old forward.

Lakers Forward Admits He Watches More Golf Than Basketball

After a game against the Jazz, James was asked about Keyonte George and if he is playing at an All-Star level. James’ answer let everyone know he clearly doesn’t watch Utah play.

“I’m the wrong guy to ask that question, champ. I watch YouTube golf these days, so I’m the wrong guy to ask about that. He played great tonight, played great last time we played them. He’s playing good ball versus us. But, yeah. I’m more into Bryan Bros., Grant Horvat, Bryson DeChambeau, and the rest of those guys.”

James doesn’t seem to care much about what else is happening around the league at this point in his career. He seems more interested in what his own team is doing and how he is preparing for games. There’s something to be said about just being focused on what he and his own team are trying to do.

Right now, the Lakers have the ninth-worst defense in the NBA. James is trying to get the Lakers to improve on that front. If they want to have a real shot to win a title, their perimeter defense has to be much better.

The Lakers Could Make Moves at the Trade Deadline to Address Poor Defense

James can still turn the back the clock sometimes defensively when he is really motivated to do so. Still, it’s not fair to rely on him to do that at his age. Los Angeles might look at the trade market to help the team improve with the defensive issues they are having.

Los Angeles has the sixth-best offense in the league, so that is how they have been winning games. James doesn’t need to watch the rest of the league to understand why his team has played so well on that end of the court. Still, some might think that James is no longer committed to basketball by watching golf instead.

The Lakers have to make a push for a title this year, as time is running out with James. He might not be on the roster next season. James could retire or leave the team. LA knows they need to make the most out of this year.
