Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update Draws Strong Reaction

It’s certainly not what the Detroit Lions wanted to see happen in the start of their traditional Thanksgiving Day game, but wide receiver Amon-Ra St Brown went down early against the Green Bay Packers.

St. Brown was injured during the first quarter of the game after having his leg rolled from behind. He stayed on the ground and looked notably in pain before being taken back to the locker room for evaluation.

Moments later, the Detroit Lions announced the official status of St. Brown, and it’s drawing a strong reaction. St. Brown is the team’s prized wide receiver, and if he’s out, that certainly put the team at a disadvantage. Up against the New York Giants last weekend, St. Brown reached 500-career receptions in just 77-career games, which shows his worth. It marked the second-fewest games needed to accumulate 500 receptions in NFL history.

Detroit Lions Make Amon-Ra St. Brown Announcement

The Lions’ PR took to X to announce that St. Brown is “questionable” to return and has an ankle injury. This is a must-win matchup against the Packers, so having him out hurt. A lot.

Not surprisingly, Detroit Lions followers were not happy. One follower simply posted “no,” which pretty much sums up how the Lions feel about possibly losing St. Brown for the rest of the game.

“Ankle is better than a knee, for what it’s worth,” one said. “We are cooked,” another stated. “Tape him up… and have him run the ball. Apparently it’s the only way we have offense,” one more commented. “Yeah if he’s not back in this game we are fried,” one more said.

Detroit Lions Need to Stay Healthy Going Forward

Everyone knows this is going to be a tough game, and the Detroit Lions’ schedule isn’t getting any easier. As for this game, taking on the Packers is no joke, and they’ll need all the healthy players they can get. Let’s hope the St. Brown injury isn’t as bad as it looks.

“This has been a gauntlet of a schedule, so the Lions are allowed a tough game here and there, and they remain strong contenders for both the playoffs and a third straight division title,” Eric Edholm of the NFL says in an article out on Tuesday, November 25, about the top teams in the NFL. “Still, it’s hard not to be a little antsy about their chances with so many more tough games remaining and some issues seemingly not going away.”

Amber Reed of Alternative Fix notes, “Lions are 7–4, and they’re giving us hope, heartbreak, and that raw, ‘anything can happen’ energy. They’ve crawled, leapt, and clawed just to stay in the mix. Some games have felt like survival sagas. Some like glorious near-misses.”

She added, “But through it all: they fight. And in November of a brutal NFL season, that fight feels good to watch.”

It’s also worth noting that last year’s Detroit Lions Thanksgiving game was a special one for the Lions. After three consecutive Thanksgiving losses as coach of the Lions, Dan Campbell finally pulled off a win and ended a seven-year Thanksgiving game drought.
