On Sunday, December 14, the Detroit Lions will take on Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, and it’s crunch time. Stafford and Los Angeles are having a blockbuster season, toting a 10-3 record going into the game and the No. 1 spot in the NFC West. They’re already in the playoffs, for all practical purposes, and the Lions aren’t, which is what makes this game so crucial for the Lions.
The Lions are going to need all of their best players healthy for the contest, but that’s obviously not realistic. All week, the team has been making roster moves to fill the holes of players who are out with an injury, but for the most part, the team’s biggest stars are intact.
The Detroit Lions are going into the game with a 8-5 record and the postseason on the line. Even though the Rams already have a 97% chance of making the postseason, they’re playing for the NFC West division title, a first-round bye and the home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Ahead of the game, the Detroit Lions have made an announcement on wide receiver Jameson Williams, who’s one of the biggest feathers in their offensive line’s cap.
Detroit Lions Share Jameson Williams News
On Thursday, December 11, the Lions took to social media to announce that Williams has some impressive stats, and one of them makes him the best in the entire NFL this season.
According to research from the Lions’ PR team, among all NFL wide receivers this season, Williams ranks No. 1 in YAC yards per reception at 8.31. That’s an incredible stats.
He’s also No. 2 in receiving average at 17.8, No. 2 in 25 or more yard receptions at 11 and No. 2 in touchdown receptions of 20 or more yards at 5.
Williams will need those numbers to help the Lions topple the Rams. Not only is this a road game, but the Rams will be motivated to put the nail in the casket for the Seattle Seahawks, who are hoping to sneak up and get the No. 1 spot in the NFC West.
For the Detroit Lions, heading into Week 15, the team has a 52% chance of making the postseason, according to NFL research. If they win on Sunday, that goes up to 72%, which is great, but if they lose, that goes down to 42%.
Dan Campbell on the Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams Game
Following the Lions’ win over the Cowboys on Thursday, Dec. 4, Detroit head coach Dan Campbell talked about what the team will do going forward.
“Well, we clean up the stuff that bit us today. That’s what we do. Clean up the stuff that bit us. So, we did some good things today, that’s good,” he said. “Let’s see if we can tweak a couple things and do a version of it. But also, some of these penalties, let’s cut this out. That’s how you do it. You just start trying to reduce the stuff that could cost us. It didn’t today. We were able to overcome it, but that’s what you do.”
So, expect some tweaks when you see the Lions on the field against the Rams on Sunday. No matter what, it’s going to be electrifying.
