The Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs played a much-anticipated game for Sunday Night Football on Sunday, October 12, and the end result isn’t what the Lions were hoping to get. Detroit fell to the Chiefs with a 17-30 finally tally, and tensions were high after that game, especially since some didn’t like that the Chiefs got zero penalties for the entire game.
Following the game, of course, there was a lot of drama. Whenever a team like the Detroit Lions, who are considered one of the best in the NFL, goes up against a championship-winning team like the Chiefs, there are going to be a lot of emotions, and this game was no exception. Right after the game, Detroit Lions player Brian Branch appeared to snub Mahomes and hit Chiefs player Juju Smith-Schuster.
Mahomes made his thoughts on it clear, telling the press after the game, “We play the game in between the whistles. They can do all the extracurricular stuff they want to do, but we play the game in between the whistles. And we thought we played a great game today, and we’ll keep this momentum moving forward.” Branch has Been suspended one game, and now, there’s another Detroit Lions player stirring up some, let’s say, excitement.
Lions Player Blows Off Steam About Kansas City Chiefs Loss
As already mentioned, the Chiefs had no flags called in Sunday’s game, which could be seen as a little sus. The lack of calls on Kansas City frustrated some Detroit players, and viewers, and it’s understandable. After the game, one Lions player took to social media to blow off some steam about what happened during the game.
Kerby Joseph of the Lions took to social media after the game, and this post from his X account has a reaction image that indicated he wasn’t too how this almost incompletion from Travis Kelce was still ruled a catch. In a separate post on X, he reacts to Kelce not getting called for what appeared to be a hold as Kansas City moved to make a first down.
Joseph also went directly at Mahomes, sharing a photo of Mahomes during the game chatting with a ref and looking very friendly. He, of course, was making a reference about Mahomes being too cozy with the refs and perhaps influencing their calls. So, Joseph isn’t a happy camper, but he did end his line of posts on X by stating that he’s “cool” and that he hasn’t peaked yet.
Detroit Lions Player Could Get Punished
Joseph’s social posts could even get him fined by the NFL, according to Candace Pedraza of SideLion Report. In a Monday, October 13 feature, he says of Joseph’s posts, “a few that could land Joseph with a fine, though, include direct references to the referees on the night specifically working in favor of Patrick Mahomes. This is a common talking point amongst fanbases – Mahomes gets a friendly whistle.”
He adds, “Most quarterbacks do, but it tends to feel magnified because there’s this endless loop of talking about Kansas City always benefitting from ticky-tacky calls in games.”
So, we’ll find out this weekend if Joseph gets fined for his post-game posts on X. Until then, the Lions have some soul-searching to do before their next matchup.
