‘Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way’ a statement said.
‘He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.’

Liverpool finished the season in fifth place, enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League but well short of meeting pre-season expectations on Merseyside.
Their haul of 60 points in 38 league games was their lowest total in a decade.
Over the course of the campaign in all competitions, Liverpool lost 12 of their league games – including home and away to arch-rivals Manchester United – while conceding 53 goals, their worst record of the Premier League era.

Having won the title in his first year in charge having been brought into replace Jurgen Klopp, all signs suggested Slot would remain in charge heading into the 2026-27 season.
But Liverpool have made the decision to part ways.

Andoni Iraola is the favourite for the job at Anfield. The Spaniard led the Cherries to European qualification in a magnificent season on the south coast, his last in charge having announced his decision to move on earlier in the season.
Oliver Glasner will also be a free agent having led Crystal Palace to the Conference League title this week.
Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness and Pierre Sage of Lens have also been named as candidates Liverpool may talk to.
