Liverpool fired their way into the record books despite defeat to Brighton on Monday night, becoming the first team in Premier League history to score two or more goals in 31 games over a season.
Arne Slot’s team lost 3-2 to the Seagulls in an entertaining game at the Amex, which saw the Reds twice take the lead but ultimately fall to defeat.
Harvey Elliott opened the scoring, with Dominik Szoboszlai netting Liverpool’s second just before half-time.
Those two strikes saw Liverpool score at least two goals in more games than any other side in a Premier League season.
Liverpool’s remarkable goal-scoring season has also seen them score in every single away match in the Premier League over the campaign.

The Reds have become just the third team in Premier League history to manage that feat, with Arsenal and Manchester United doing so in 2001/02.
Slot’s side have now scored 85 goals in 37 league outings this campaign, with Newcastle their nearest rivals on that front on just 67.

On his team’s goal-scoring exploits, Slot told Sky Sports: ‘Not only firepower, I think it’s also we create a lot, because if you want to score a goal you have to create a lot.
‘It’s not only that we have players who can score a goal. We bring them so many times in those positions that it’s not a surprise we score so many goals.’
There was little on the line for Liverpool in this game, with the title already wrapped up, and Slot sounded like he enjoyed the game despite the loss.
He bemoaned missed chances for Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa that could have changed the result, but was impressed by Brighton.

‘Two very good team wanting to play football, not time wasting, no diving,’ he told the BBC. ‘Momentum changed in the game and I waited for us to score the third, that would have killed the game but they made it 2-2. Great game of football but not the result we wanted.
‘These moments at this level do make a difference. Just before that miss Salah gave a similar chance to Federico and it was very well blocked. We played eighth in the Premier League and they were able to bring in [Kaoru] Mitoma. That shows you about the strength of this league.
‘If you don’t score the third one then it’s hard to win a game at this level, especially away from home. We cannot miss chances like we did if you want to win the game.’
Szoboszlai made an honest admission that Brighton appeared to want the win more and the Liverpool dressing room was not that disappointed with defeat.
‘I cannot say we are very sad but we didn’t come here to lose, we wanted to win,’ said the Hungarian. ‘We showed in the first 70 minutes that we wanted to get the three points and take them home. We faced a tough Brighton team and they deserved to win. They looked like they wanted it more.
‘It’s hard to talk about because we’ve won the league already but we don’t come here to lose. We gave everything against Arsenal too and we will on Sunday because it’s the final home game and the fans deserve it.’
