Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed Saturday morning, October 4, in downtown Indianapolis. He’s currently in the hospital, according to Fox Sports, and in stable condition.
WTHR reports that Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called and responded to a “disturbance in an alley” around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, that said one person had been stabbed and another was injured outside a pub. The pub was near West Washington Street and North Senate Avenue, according to WTHR.
Suspect in Mark Sanchez Stabbing is in Custody
The good news is that WTHR reports that the suspect in this incident has been detained. However, they haven’t released any information about the suspect or if this was a random act or if the two knew each other.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports said in a statement on Saturday afternoon. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
According to WTHR, “Police said the incident involved two men, who are not local residents, with one man ‘receiving lacerations’ and the other sustaining injuries consistent with stab wounds. Both men received medical treatment.”
Police also reported that one was detained at the scene, while Sanchez was immediately taken to the hospital. “This is believed to be an isolated incident that started as a verbal argument,” police told WTHR.
The official social media X account for the Jets was quick to send out their support after hearing the news. “Sending our thoughts and love to Mark Sanchez and his family. Hoping for a speedy recovery, 6,” they stated as a response to Fox Sports’ statement.
Sanchez was reportedly in Indianapolis because he was set to broadcast with Fox Sports for Sunday’s Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
