Michael Chandler Opens Up About the Significance of UFC’s White House Event

Michael Chandler opened up about the UFC’s upcoming White House event. He says the event carries a deeper meaning for every fighter on the roster, as it is a rare once-in-a-lifetime event. It shows how far the sport has come, considering it was banned in most states and heavily criticized early on.

Chandler remains hopeful that the UFC will include him on the historic card. He has proven track record of delivering exciting fights and believes he’d be a perfect addition.

Chandler shared his thoughts on the White House event, stressing that its significance goes beyond sports and politics. He even predicted that it will be the biggest combat sports event of all-time.

“I’m always must-see TV, must-see action. Donald Trump will be there. It sounds like there’s going to be a lot of people form across the world coming to watch, plus possibly 60, 70, 80, 000 people across the way at the Washington Memorial,” Chandler said during his appearance on FOX News Channel’s The Will Cain Show. “It’s one of those types of events, like, Dana said, it will never be done again. Until Elon Musk goes to Mars, and we’re able to put an octagon on Mars…this is the biggest fight that could ever possibly happen.”

Chandler emphasized that the event is historic because it falls on a very special date for the country.

“On America’s 250th birthday, I bleed red, white, and blue, and I’m just excited to go out there and compete for America.”

Michael Chandler Confident He Will Face Conor McGregor at the White House

Michael Chandler is confident that when the historic White House event arrives, Conor McGregor will finally stand across him. The fight has been in the works since they coached on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter, but failed to materialize.

Now with the UFC hosting a historic event and McGregor’s desire to be included, there is a greater chance it will become a reality.

“That’s the plan. There’s going to be a lot of things that are going to be up in the air between now and then,” Chandler told FOX News Channel‘s The Will Cain Show. “Obviously, Conor wants to fight me. I want to fight him. We were supposed to fight in June of 2024.”

He added:

“We did The Ultimate Fighter 31. We had a contract signed,” Chandler said. “He pulled out of the fight a couple of weeks before. It’s a stylistic match made in heaven, Conor’s return.”

Chandler Staying Active

Chandler is hopeful that the UFC will book his long awaited matchup with McGregor at the White House event. In the meantime, he is staying active and returning to his amateur wrestling roots.

Chandler steps onto the mats for Real America Freestyle and faces former UFC competitor Chad Mendes at RAF 3 this Saturday.

Both competitors are former NCAA Division 1 wrestlers. Chandler expressed his excitement about returning to the wrestling mats and believes his matchup with Mendes will deliver for fans.

“Every single thing that I have accomplished in my life comes from a foundation of the sport of wrestling, high school, college, and I parlayed that into an MMA career,” Chandler told The Will Cain Show. “It’s going to be nonstop action. I’m wrestling Chad Mendes. He was a Division 1 finalist in 2008. So, we wrestled about the same time. We’re coming to bring the heat, steal the show, and it’s going to be an awesome show there in Chicago.”
