However, Milwaukee has an extremely bright future, and as long as they hold onto starting pitcher and ace, Freddy Peralta, they will compete for many NL Central titles for years to come.
There were some reports last season that Freddy Peralta may be a trade candidate this offseason due to his very team-friendly contract and the fact that the Brewers often let their star players walk in free agency as opposed to signing them to lengthy, expensive extensions. However, a recent report by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale cleared the air on the Brewers’ plans with Freddy Peralta.

Milwaukee Brewers DO NOT Plan to Move Freddy Peralta
In a recent offseason guide by Bob Nightengale, the MLB insider reports that the Milwaukee Brewers are unlikely to move on from Freddy Peralta:
“Despite the rumors and speculation, the Brewers are planning to keep him, knowing that at $8 million heâs an absolute steal making 33 starts and striking out 200 batters, and they need him if theyâre going to run it back again.”

This is big news for the Brewers’ rotation. Peralta has emerged as the true ace, and other formidable arms like Quinn Priester and the rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski round out the top of the rotation.
Peralta has been one of the most consistent and dominant starters in MLB over the last few seasons. He’s a two-time All-Star and has 200+ strikeouts and 160+ innings pitched in each of the last three seasons. Over 33 starts in 2025, Peralta posted a 2.70 ERA and led the NL in pitcher wins (17). There’s no slighting his value to the Brewers.

Brewers Offseason Outlook
Milwaukee led MLB in wins with 97 this season, but that didn’t get them to the ultimate goal of reaching a World Series. A big question the Brewers have to answer this offseason is what will happen with Brandon Woodruff, who is a free agent. Woodruff has dealt with injuries in the last few seasons, but when he’s been on the mound, he’s been efficient.
The Brewers ranked 22nd in MLB in terms of total home runs hit in 2025, so that’s something else the front office may want to address. This could either be via a trade (Jo Adell and Taylor Ward reportedly available) or by making a key signing in free agency. They’ve historically been small spenders, but with such a fundamentally strong roster and great manager, this might be the offseason that Milwaukee breaks its tendencies.
