Mock Draft Predicts Rams Get Help In Secondary

The Los Angeles Rams attempted to get some help at the cornerback spot in the 2025 NFL Offseason.

Rumors were ongoing about the Los Angeles Rams making a trade for former Ram Jalen Ramsey and the possibility of signing two-time All-Pro Jaire Alexander.

Unfortunate for the Rams, they were unable to get either cornerback. Ramsey was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Alexander went on to sign with the Baltimore Ravens.

After NFL Cutdown Day, Los Angeles kept 5 cornerbacks on their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.

“While this position may have been viewed externally as one that needed to be addressed by the Rams this spring, they elected not to draft a cornerback or acquire one via free agency or trade, reinforcing that the coaching staff liked the group they had,” Rams senior staff writer Stu Jackson wrote.

Depending on how the 25-26 season goes, the Rams may attempt to acquire a cornerback next season.

CBS Sports’ draft analyst Mike Renner released his first 2026 mock draft after the first week of the college football season, with him predicting the Rams will take a cornerback in the first round.

Rams Select Clemson’s Avieon Terrell

In Renners’ mock draft, the Los Angeles Rams will make their first selection with the 12th overall pick (based on reverse Super Bowl odds by FanDuel SportsBook).

Renner has the Rams drafting cornerback Avieon Terrell out of Clemson in next year’s draft.

“The brother of [Atlanta] Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell, Avieon is a perfect fit for the Rams defense. He’s a shorter, shiftier corner who can stick with receivers along the full route tree. His addition would give the Rams more flexibility to play man in situation where they currently can not,” Renner wrote.

Terrell appeared in 14 games for the Tigers last season. The cornerback registered 58 total tackles, with 12 pass deflections and 2 interceptions as a true sophomore.

Pro Football Focus ranks Terrell as the 11th-best overall prospect and the second-best corner in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Clemson Tigers’ addition to the Rams would give the Rams the number 1 cornerback the team is looking for.

The odds of the Los Angeles Rams drafting at the 12th overall pick are low due to having a good team. The odds are even lower to draft Avieon Terrell, who was predicted to be a top 15 pick, according to Renner.

Los Angeles is considered a Super Bowl contender in the upcoming season and has the roster to make it happen.

The Rams’ defensive front can do more work pressuring quarterbacks, allowing the secondary to have some breathing room and recover if they are beaten by a passing threat.

LA can add a different corner this season through a trade, negating the possibility of the Rams drafting Terrell next draft.
