The Carolina Panthers and quarterback Bryce Young have had a roller coaster-type season this year.
On Sunday, Carolina (7-6) surprised the football world by upsetting the Los Angeles Rams (9-3) at Bank of America Stadium. Young finished the game 15-for-20 with 206 yards passing and three touchdowns, en route to a 31-28 victory over the Rams.
At 24 years and 128 days old, Young became the youngest player in NFL history to record 11 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime, surpassing reigning MVP Josh Allen, who achieved the mark at 24 years and 164 days.
But just last week, Young threw two picks and lost to the San Francisco 49ers (9-4). For as many poor performances, the former No. 1 overall pick has had just as many standout performances, including multiples three-touchdown games.

Bryce Young Says Trust in Teammates ‘Never Wavers’
Young was asked postgame if the team continues to trust each other while dealing with inconsistent play.
“It never wavers,” Young said. “It’s a competitive league, there’s going to ups and downs. But I know my guys, I know how they work, I know who they are, I know the competitors they are. No matter what, I’m always gonna have confidence in them. That will never change.
“I’m so proud of this group, just the resilience. For us, we always lean on each other, we always have belief. We don’t worry about the outside opinions.”
Teammates Praise Young
Young’s teammates sing the same message about their QB.
“His demeanor, his aura when it comes to late drives is contagious,” rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan said. “The proof is in the pudding. Heâs done it now, what did you say, 11 times? The fact that your leader on offense can do that, you know, it speaks volumes for sure.”
McMillan, a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year, had just one reception â but it went for a touchdown, a 43-yard strike from Young on fourth down.
â(Young’s) never worried. He’s just cool as (heck),â said running back Chuba Hubbard.
Hubbard, now Carolinaâs No. 2 option behind Rico Dowdle, ran for 83 yards on 17 carries and added a receiving touchdown along with 41 receiving yards. Chants of âChuba!â echoed through the stadium, a clear sign that Hubbard has maintained the support of the fanbase despite this seasonâs challenges.
Final Weeks Will Determine NFC South Champion
The victory kept the Panthers (7â6) just a half-game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5) in the NFC South and marked their strongest start to a season since 2017, the last year they reached the playoffs.
“It’s huge,” Young said. “To be able to go into this last stretch, … but we want to take it one game at a time.”
Three of the four final games for Carolina are division opponents. Next is the bye week then they travel to New Orleans to play the Saints (2-10) before finishing with Tampa Bay, Seattle (9-3) and Tampa Bay again.
