Patrick Beverley’s Attorney Challenges Sister’s Claims, Issues Firm Response

Patrick Beverley’s legal team is pushing back hard against the assault allegations outlined in a Fort Bend County affidavit, arguing that the former Lakers’ NBA guard acted out of concern for his 15-year-old sister on a chaotic night that ended with police arriving at the family home in the early hours of November 15, per the Houston Chronicle. The attorney’s response reshapes the tone of the case and brings a new layer of tension to a story already defined by troubling detail.

The affidavit claims the confrontation began after Beverley’s sister left the house in the middle of the night to meet her boyfriend at a nearby park without alerting her mother, TMZ reports. When she returned, her mother called Beverley, who owns a home in Missouri City, and asked him to come over. That decision set the stage for a serious conflict, according to the report.

The sister told officers that Beverley scolded her, then “grabbed her by the neck with both hands and picked her up off the ground.” She said she felt a loss of oxygen for 20 to 30 seconds before he slammed her into walls and later punched her in the eye while she sat on a couch. The affidavit says the boyfriend left after being told to go, and Beverley then told the family that the boyfriend had contacted police, who arrived at around 3:50 a.m.

Beverley responded over the weekend with a screenshot of a message from his attorney that read, in part, that he “cares deeply about his little sister” and grew worried after finding her “alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night.” The message also stated that the defense team does not believe the incident unfolded the way the affidavit describes and looks forward to addressing it in court.

Attorney Calls Affidavit ‘Incomplete’

On Tuesday, his attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins expanded on that stance. She told TMZ Sports that the sister’s version of events came “at a time when emotions were high” and does not reflect the full truth. Quinones-Hollins said Beverley treated responding officers with respect that night and encouraged others in the home to follow his lead.

She pushed back against the narrative in the affidavit, calling it both inaccurate and incomplete. “He is the provider and protector of his family, including his little sister and his mom. He has always looked out for their wellbeing and will continue to do so,” she said. Quinones-Hollins added that she expects Beverley to be cleared once the full set of facts enters the case.

Her message also asked the public to resist drawing conclusions based solely on the first round of reporting. “Please remember this is America and in our society, Patrick is innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law,” she said. The defense team plans to challenge the timeline and the details laid out in the affidavit as the case moves forward.

Legal Pushback Signals a Longer Fight Ahead

The attorney’s firm rebuttal signals that Beverley intends to contest the allegations aggressively. The statements mark the first structured counter from his camp and create a clear divide between the narrative in the affidavit and the one Beverley plans to present in court.

No new information has emerged from investigators, and the affidavit remains the only official account from law enforcement. With the attorney framing Beverley as a protective figure who intervened during a tense family situation, the legal battle now shifts toward how the court interprets conflicting accounts.

The next phase centers on discovery, testimony, and the release of additional evidence that has not surfaced publicly. Beverley has not spoken directly beyond sharing his attorney’s message. His legal team says they plan to address everything in full once proceedings advance.
