Patriots Stefon Diggs Gets New Trouble After Cardi B Baby Announcement

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is just getting into the swing of things on the field. He has caught 10 passes in two games for just 89 yards and no touchdowns in his first two games as a Patriot. That’s respectable though not exceptional production, and New England is certain to demand more out of their $69 million free agent acquisition.

Off the field, however, Diggs has been busy. Or so it seems judging by the fact that his current girlfriend, hip-hop superstar Cardi B announced on Wednesday that she is expecting a child with Diggs.

And only one day later, a new report revealed that Diggs is currently facing a paternity lawsuit from an Instagram model who says that she gave birth in April to a baby girl fathered by Diggs.

Court Documents Filed in December

The court documents in the case were uncovered by People Magazine. On Thursday, the publication reported that the suit was filed in December of last year when the plaintiff, Aileen Lopera, was pregnant with the then-unborn child.

According to People, as well as to a report by E! News, Diggs has not responded to press inquiries about the paternity suit.

In fact, Diggs did not even have much of a response to the announcement by Cardi B — aka Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar — that she is pregnant with Diggs’ child, which would be her fourth, and Diggs’ second, officially. Of course, if Diggs is eventually found to be the father of Lopera’s child, the Cardi B baby would be his second in the space of a year.

Diggs Tight-Lipped About Cardi B Pregnancy

Asked if Cardi B’s announcement was true by local, Boston media on Thursday, Diggs didn’t exactly break out the cigars.

“Oh my personal life?” Diggs said in response to the question. “I told you about that, we don’t talk too much about my personal life. But I heard about it.”

When asked if he planned “any celebrations” around the announcement, Diggs simply said, “We’ll see.”

Diggs Contests Paternity of Model’s Baby

However, according to the lawsuit as reported by People, Diggs did respond to the claim by Lopera — known by her Instagram handle Lord Gisselle — that he is the father of her child.

According to the documents as cited by the publication, Diggs requested genetic testing to determine whether Lopera’s baby was indeed his child — adding that if the test came back positive “he requests joint legal and physical custody, as well as joint payment of ‘reasonable expenses’ of pregnancy, birth and attorney fees and costs.”

Child Given Diggs’ Surname

In the lawsuit, Lopera requests sole custody of the child, granting Diggs only visitation rights. She says in the suit that she named the child Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera, giving the girl a hyphenated surname combing her own and Diggs’.

Diggs is the father of a daughter, Nova, who will turn nine years old on October 14. While Diggs has not confirmed the identity of the girl’s mother, some speculative reports have named Los Angeles-based musician Tyler-Marie. The singer has not commented on those reports.

Diggs has reportedly shared a close relationship with his daughter, even taking her in 2022 to his signing of a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills.
