Pro-Bowl CB Slams the Door on the Panthers Potentially Releasing Veteran WR

An intriguing name has come out of Carolina Panthers training camp as a top receiver. This 29-year-old has proven himself before, specifically with a 1,038 yard season in 2021.

With a Top 10 cornerback in the league hyping him up, Bryce Young may have another key weapon on his hands. Young is already surrounded with young players such as Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette, but it’s this 2021 Pro Bowler to watch out for.

Jaycee Horn’s Comments on Hunter Renfrow Turn Heads

Kay Adams put Jaycee Horn on the spot when she asked him for a player that needs to be put on her map. Horn began his response with Jimmy Horn Jr., but quickly changed gears to Hunter Renfrow.

On a team where their No. 8 pick is getting all the attention, Renfrow remains a reliable option. He’s entering his seventh year in the league, though he missed all of 2024.

“I think with our whole receiving core and Renfrow coming back, he’s been impossible to guard out here out of the slot. The receivers have been making plays, I’m excited to see the guys suit up on Sunday,” Horn said.

He continued, “The way he’s set on routes. He might have an out-route and make it look like an in-breaking route. He puts so many sticks and twists and turns in his routes, it makes it tough to cover. I’m excited to see him one-on-one.”

Adams reposted a response that read, “If there were any concerns if Hunter Renfrow was going to make the team, Jaycee Horn just squashed them.”

Horn is the Latest Player to Hype up the Panthers Receiving Core

On paper, the Panthers seem set at wide receiver. Knowing that Horn is hyping up the team’s 6th round pick, it shows just how deep they are. Adam Thielen paced the team in yards and touchdowns last season. He’ll look to do more of the same in 2025 with a ultra confident quarterback.

If Horn’s comments on Renfrow weren’t enough, he said Horn Jr. has, “a lot of speed. It’s not just height. He’s not really under the radar because everyone loves to see his one-on-ones, but in real football I think he’s going to make a lot of plays for us. He’s got game-changing speed. He’s a small guy in stature, but he plays like he’s 6’4.”

The 5’8” 174-pound Colorado graduate was selected No. 208 overall. He played two years at Colorado after beginning his career at USF. While he only had one touchdown last season, he had a career high of six in 2023. Horn Jr. didn’t finish any of his four college seasons with less than 30 receptions and 400 yards.

Keep in mind, Horn Jr. has a career-long 91 yard reception. He did so in his sophomore season, with an 80 yard catch and run as a freshman. Horn knows just how fast the rookie receiver is as he looks to make an impact on this receiving core.

Adams had the chance to speak with the Panthers quarterback as well. Young refused to give her an answer as to who will be WR1. Instead, he hyped up McMillan and Legette as Dave Canales confirmed he’ll be suiting up for the preseason.
