The NFL trade deadline is in a few days and while the Las Vegas Raiders aren’t going to move Maxx Crosby, the seeds of a potential trade in the future have been planted. As a result, expect the trade rumors to grow, especially if the Raiders struggle to close out the 2025 season.
With Crosby still in the heart of his prime, contending teams are expected to come calling the Silver and Black about a potential trade this offseason. As a result, the Raiders star will likely hear his name surface repeatedly in trade rumors.
Amid what’s probably to come, Crosby appeared on “Let’s Go!” with Jim Gray and talked about how he’s blocking out all the trade noise in recent weeks, and it’s buzz that will continue until Las Vegas put a contending team around him.
“I really try to block out all the noise,” Crosby told Gray. “Rumors and things of that nature, I can’t control. It’s just a waste of time and energy when it comes to that. Walking through the facility and seeing it all over the TVs with teammates around, it’s awkward—stuff like that. I’m focused on now, where my feet are, and on winning. That’s all I want to do—win and get this team to where we need to be.”
Maxx Crosby Knows the Raiders Need to Improve
While Crosby is staying loyal to the Raiders, he knows that at 2-5, Las Vegas isn’t in a position where they’ll be making the playoffs unless the team goes on a miraculous run to finish the 2025 season. As a result, it will probably be another playoff-less campaign for Crosby.
Nonetheless, he wants to be part of the solution to getting the Raiders back to a contending team rather than bailing out on the situation and going elsewhere.
“It’s not there at the moment, but we have another opportunity coming up,” Crosby added. “We have a chance every day to get better, so it’s got to be everyone. For me, like I said, there’s no comfortability. All my focus is on being the best version of myself, whether that’s on the field or off it, and bringing this team to where we need to be. That’s all I care about.”
Will Maxx Crosby Be Healthy for the Jaguars Game?
On October 29, Las Vegas released its Week 9 injury report, revealing that Crosby didn’t fully participate in practice due to a back injury. As a result, the Silver and Black could take a cautious approach and keep him out of the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
If the team can’t count on him on November 2, other players on the defensive line will need to step up. One player aiming to rise to the occasion is Tyree Wilson.
The 25-year-old has recorded two sacks this season and will need to increase that production if Crosby cannot go against the Jaguars. On October 29, Wilson discussed how the defense would look without the edge rusher applying consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
“I’m not going to say Maxx being out [now] I got to be Maxx Crosby,” Wilson told reporters. “I’m still going to be myself, but with him being out, he brings an energetic piece to practice, flying around to the ball and talking that.
“With me coming in, I’ve got to step into a role where I make the plays he isn’t making and bring energy to the D-line, defense, and the whole team. I’m just trying to be myself while filling that role as well.”
