Raiders Sign Former First-Round Pick One Day After Being Released

The Las Vegas Raiders have done some roster tinkering this week following the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Cornerback Greedy Vance got a spot on the active roster, and wide receiver Brenden Rice was added to the practice squad.

To make room for Vance, the Raiders cut linebacker Jamin Davis. He’s a former first-round pick of the Washington Commanders, but could only get on the field for one game this season.

However, the Raiders like him enough to keep him in the building. The team announced that Davis has been brought back on the practice squad.

He’s a veteran with a lot of experience, so he’s a valuable depth piece to keep. Perhaps the Raiders wanted to move Vance to the active roster so that other teams couldn’t try to poach him. It’s less likely a veteran like Davis would be poached.

The Raiders seem pretty set with their rotation of linebackers between Jamal Adams, Devin White and Elandon Roberts. Davis will likely only get a chance to play again if the team faces any injuries the rest of the way.

Raiders Offense Has Tough Matchup in Week 14

The Raiders’ offense has been the second-worst in the NFL this season. Things aren’t about to get easier as they face a top-five Denver Broncos defense in Week 14. Nik Bonitto had 1.5 sacks against the team earlier in the season; the offensive line is arguably playing even worse.

He could feast on the Raiders’ offensive line. Head coach Pete Carroll praised the pass rusher ahead of the matchup.

“He’s explosive,” Carroll said of Bonitto. “He’s really slippery. He’s a really good all-around athlete. He’s got all of the knack physically to slip you and to avoid you and to race right on past the tackles. And he has a great motor.”

Right tackle DJ Glaze is going to be tasked with slowing down the star pass rusher. He knows he has his work cut out for him.

“He’s a quick guy, his get off is his main tool,” Glaze said of Bonitto, via Raiders.com. “So you have to make sure you’re good getting off the ball, you can’t get behind against him because he’s very good at bending that edge.”

Jack Bech Named X-Factor

The Raiders only scored seven points the last time they played Denver. A big reason for that is that they can’t move the ball through the air at all. The team’s wide receivers have been a major problem.

ESPN’s Ryan McFadden believes that second-round pick Jack Bech is an X-factor the rest of the season.

“Wide receiver is among the long list of needs the Raiders will address in the offseason,” McFadden wrote. “But with Las Vegas out of the postseason picture, the final five weeks of the season should open the door for its rookie second-round pick to prove he can be a meaningful contributor in 2026. Bech has only 10 catches for 114 yards, though eight of those receptions resulted in first downs. The former TCU standout has upside. It’s a matter of the coaching staff allowing him to showcase his potential in the coming weeks.”
