It was weird seeing Tom Brady at Las Vegas Raiders practice last week, but the minority owner finally showed up.Â
However, most will always remember him as a New England Patriot, and rightfully so, because of what he did throughout his career with the Patriots.Â
That will only continue later in the week, as Brady, arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, will get a statue outside of Gillette Stadium. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Brady’s statue will be revealed on Friday before the Patriotsâ game against the Washington Commanders.Â
âThe statue will be unveiled, with a short ceremony, in the hours leading up to kickoff. A limited number of fans can watch from the plaza outside the Hall of Fame, with it also broadcast on the videoboards inside Gillette Stadium,â he wrote.
Raiders Look to Encapsulate Brady’s Winning Pedigree
Brady might not do much with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he spoke about what he plans to do with the team. He noted that he expects Pete Carroll, Mark Davis, and others to make the right decisions. He’s there to be a sounding board and try to help the rest of the players on the roster.Â
“Well, I’m just a limited partner, so Mark’s the boss,” Brady said in an interview with Raiders.com’s Paul Gutierrez. “And then Pete does his job and Spy does his job and, I think, we trust them to make the right decisions. I’m there as a great sounding board for anything they want to do.”
Moments like Brady getting his jersey retired for the Patriots and getting a statue are part of the reasons why the Raiders wanted him to be a minority owner. Carroll even spoke about it recently, adding that he has so much experience in the league that it should be helpful for many of the players on the roster.Â
“I thought that would be one of the great opportunities of all time, to have his presence,” Carroll said of Brady last month. “His presence is strong. John Spytek and him go back a ton of years and Johnny holds him in the highest regard. So we’re trying to infuse Tom’s mentality, we’re trying to bring it into the organization, because it’s so good and so unique and so one-of-a-kind, I think it helps us to be a one-of-a-kind franchise.”
Brady’s Raiders Outlook
While the Las Vegas Raiders might be in a different position than the New England Patriots were when Brady was under the center, the goal still remains the same.Â
Brady has stated multiple times that he wants to win and will do anything he possibly can to ensure the Raiders have a chance to do so.Â
While he won’t go out there on the field to make that happen, Brady’s mind and decisions could ultimately lead this franchise to winning at the level all fans want to happen.Â
“And our goal is to, you know, win a lot of football games. You’ve got to work hard at it, and it’s all earned and we’ve got a tough division. There’s a lot of good opponents we face. But it’s going to be up to the guys and their daily commitment to doing the right things,â Brady said, according to NFL.com.Â
