Rams Legend Aaron Donald is Trending Online After Frank Ragnow’s Lions Return

The Los Angeles Rams are 9-2 and have the No. 1 seed in the NFC entering Thanksgiving weekend.

Sean McVay’s team has won six in a row after a 26-23 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams are trending in the right direction with two favorable games on tap against the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals.

After that, they face a tough stretch with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks.

Speaking of the Lions, news broke on Wednesday that star offensive lineman Frank Ragnow decided to unretire and return to the Lions one day before the Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Lions posted a photo of Ragnow running out of the tunnel, and minutes later, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the return.

“This is real. Frank Ragnow is coming out of retirement,” Rapoport wrote on X.

Ragnow, the four-time Pro Bowler, shocked everyone by retiring in June at the age of 29, but now he returns to Detroit.

And, in related news, Rams fans wasted no time pounding the table for Aaron Donald to come back.

Aaron Donald Instantly Trends Online After Lions News

Ragnow coming back to Detroit is a big move for the Lions as they try and make a Super Bowl run.

Right after the news broke, fans wasted no time wondering if Donald would also unretire and come back to the Rams.

“Aaron Donald next,” one fan wrote. “Announce Aaron Donald unretiring for the Rams,” said another.

“GO CALL AARON DONALD @RamsNFL,” said another. “Aaron Donald ….its your turn …make the announcement,” another wrote.

“Two things: 1) I legitimately checked to see if it was April 1st. 2) How long until the Rams counter with Aaron Donald?” another asked.

Fans calling for Donald’s return were a very common theme on social media right after Ragnow’s return was announced.

Donald, who was selected by the Rams with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, retired in March 2024.

He finished his NFL career with 10 Pro Bowl trips, eight All-Pro teams, three AP Defensive Player of the Year Awards, a Super Bowl win, and 111 sacks in the regular season.

Yet, fans want the 34-year-old to come back and try and make one more Super Bowl run, especially after Ragnow is coming back for Detroit.

The Rams Legend Seems Content With Retirement

Donald recently returned to SoFi Stadium on Friday, November 21, as he hosted “An Evening With Aaron Donald.”

As such, speculation of a return sparked questions, but he made it clear that he is content with not playing, at least for right now.

“I’ve got four kids and a wife, man. That, doing a lot of other things,” Donald said recently, via Rams reporter Stu Jackson. “Obviously with my Ready Nutrition company, our development company, a couple of things we working on in the film space, my (AD99) foundation. So a little bit of everything, honestly, man, just really staying busy. I always tell people, ‘I feel like I retired and got more busy!’ But it’s good to be busy, good to have things in place for life after football. So I’ve been enjoying it.”

The Rams just celebrated Donald’s legacy during the Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and while fans would love for him to return, it doesn’t appear that he is thinking about that, at least at this moment.
